H4 flashing on Sharp copiers indicates that the fuser tempurature has failed to reach temperature in a given time. The posible causes of this are 1.Failure of the heater lamp or heater lamp drive circuit. 2. Failure of the temperature sensing circuit. 3. The initial temp. of the fuser roller was very cold. or 4.low mians supply voltage for a short time (brown out). The copier does not allow a simple on/off reset of this fault because in cause 2. above the copier may overheat and cause a fire.
The reset for this model should be:
Clear ® Density select ® Clear ® Density select - 14-Print.

Have a Sharp AL-1631 copier. The copier is flashing H-4. What does this mean and what can I do to fix the problem? Thanks.

Push the 'clear' button and then the 'auto' button then the 'clear' button and then the 'auto' button again. This should be done as quickly as you can and the console will go blank.Next, select 14,which is the low temp clearing code, and then push 'start' and then turn the machine off and back on again.

If the error still occurs call Sharp or qualified technician to resolve your fuser issue

My HP officejet pro all in one 8500 wireless keeps flashing "clear paper jam then push ok"..... I have pushed ok, it will run its course and then flash the same message. I have tried turning it...

This error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

Hi my printer shows the code h.4 error

I think it a fuser error code. Try clearing it:
Push the 'clear' button and then the 'auto' button then the 'clear' button and then the 'auto' button again. This should be done as quickly as you can and the console will go blank.
Next, select 14,which is the low temp clearing code, and then push 'start' and then turn the machine off and back on again.

If the error still occurs call Sharp or qualified technician to resolve your fuser issue, but it is probably cheaper to just get a new copier. j

Code

UNDERNEATH THE TRAY WHERE THE PAPER COMES OUT THERE IS A ROTORY SWITCH WHICH IS CLEAR IN COLOR. IT IS EXTERNAL. IT MAY HAVE BEEN TURNED SLIGHTLY. IT IS SOME SORT OF LOCK, THAT IS WHY THE L IS FLASHING. IT IS RIGHT UNDER WHERE THE PAPER COMES OUT OF THE PRINTER. AFTER YOU TURN IT IN THE STRAIGHT POSITION, PUSH THE CLEAR BUTTON THEN THE BUTTON JUST LEFT OF THE CONTRAST ADJUSTMENT BUTTONS. DO THAT TWICE IN A ROW AND THE PRINTER WILL TURN OFF. PUSH CLEAR AGAIN AND IT WILL TURN IT BACK ON AND ALSO CLEAR THE TROUBLE CODE. GOOD LUCK.

Error mesage

NOTE: Some Status codes will not clear even though the problem has been fixed. Status codes that will not clear must be manually reset using the 'Fault Reset 14 Procedure'.
  1. Locate the [C] (Clear) button on the Control Panel, at the far right.
  2. Locate the Image Quality button, below the Auto on the Control Panel, toward the left side.
  3. Press the buttons in the following sequence within 4 seconds. Press [C] (Clear), press [Image Quality], press [C] (Clear) again, press [Image Quality] again.
  4. The error code should disappear. If the Status code does not clear, repeat step 3 until the status code clears; but no more than five times.
  5. Use the [10] and [1] buttons to enter 14 on the Display Screen, as if you were to make 14 copies.
  6. Press the [Start] button. The machine should be ready to use.
  7. Make a copy, to check that the machine is working properly
IF these steps do not work you will have to replace the fuser or fuser heat rod then perform the reset.
