Question about Panasonic PT-47WX53 47" Rear Projection HDTV

I have a panasonic lcd tv model TX-37LZD850A that is playing up. The green light is flashing and it is constantly changing channels on its own. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Hi. Yes we've changed the batteries in the remote and it still does it. I turned the tv off and about an hour ago the red light was flashing too. I've now unplugged it completely from the power supply for a while to see if that does anything.

OK. I've taken the batteries out of the remote, but I have no idea how to turn the tv on and change channels without it :( If it needs major service after 18mths then I'm pretty disappointed with Panasonic!

Thanks Tim. I'm in Australia so I'm not sure whether we have the same credit card conditions, but I'll give it a go. Wish there was an easy fix! Thanks for your advice.

Hi,

First of all, you could take the remote out of the room and see,if TV would still change channels itself. Many times if the remote is at fault, these symptoms could be observed.

The next thing would be
Did anyone try to clean the TV screen lately?Maybe with Windex or something like that?

What can happen ,is the cleaning agent dripped inside of set and created a path for the electric current-causing the switches to malfunction.Sometimes only the ambient moisture will cause this without any human interaction. Try and open unit up and clean the switches in the front(behind the buttons-onto the board, with some contact cleaner). If this does not work, the switches must be replaced.

If both of these are excluded, then it is an internal fault. This usually refers to a faulty act switch on the control board which is sticking or shorted out.

' The tact switches are the most common ' reason for the same.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

There could be a few things causing this. Does it happen if you take the batteries out of the remote, will it still change channels on it's own? It could be the remote acting up, but most likely it is the actual main board of the TV that is having hardware issues. Let me know if you have ruled out the remote for sure... Thanks Tim

Right I meant actually taking out and leaving out the batteries from the remote just to make sure the remote isn't the culprit in any way. Definitely a good idea to reboot the tv by unplugging. If it continues to do it and for sure the remote is not causing it then it will need some fairly major service. Most likely the main board as mentioned before, which if you really want to try and do it yourself (this is not recommend, it's very difficult to do) this is the part:

You should be able to do that with the buttons on the TV itself in the mean time. So you have cable going directly into the TV not into a set top box? If you think it may still be under warranty please contact the manufacturer to file an RMA. If you happened to purchase the TV with a major credit card (not a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the TV.

    Thanks

    Tim

Trying to replace lamp in HDTV and having trouble. Does not function correctly after putting in new bulb. Boots up and then visuals go black and the green power light keeps flashing. Help?

Panasonic DLP TV Bulbs

Make sure its an original Osram or Philips bulb inside the housing. If its a cheap lamp it will act this way. If it is an original lamp, then you may have a power supply issue. It shouldn't affect your TV but you may want to try resetting the lamp timer by following the instructions that came with the lamp.

TY-LA1001 Timer reset

While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the number 0 button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.

Panasonic lx-32lxd70 lcd tv not working in cyprus?!?!?!

Under the channel setup menu there should be a way to change the input type of the channel. When you go to edit a channel look for this setting. If all your channels are grainy this is probably the solution also.

Set up new tv - doesn't work

Warranty time. The TV most likely went into protection mode because a part went bad inside.
I would take it back to the store and exchange it for a new one. 90 day warranty policy.
Have them test the new one to make sure it works so you don't have to waste another trip.
Good Luck

Samsung tv

as far as it turning off on its own I would get a fan on it and see if that make a difference make sure that the fan is able to flow around the tv especially through the back of it, if this stops it from turning off then it is an overheating problem
