Question about Remote Start System

1 Answer

I have had the Viper ce0890 since 2006 and never had a problem. I recently had my fuel pump replaced. Now when I hit the remote start the car turns over but it doesn't seem to get the fuel to keep it running. Can I set the timer myself so the car will keep running? Can't find the manuel......

I am pretty sure it wasn't the same model pump. I didn't put in the remote start. I had Best Buy put it in. The folks that put in the fuel pump said Best Buy did a terrible job putting in the remote start. (Splicing wires that they didn't need too). Both the garage and Best Buy is 45 minutes away so it would be nice if I could just do it myself if it is possible and easy.

I am trying to locate this manual for you, did you install the alarm yourself? Most places that install them will reconfigure them for free if you ever have a problem even if it's years later. The new fuel pump is not configured with the alarm properly... Do you know was it the exact same model fuel pump they put in? Or a third party fuel pump....

It is not at all easy and I am not even certain if it will work with a third party fuel pump like that. I would recommend you call Best Buy and arrange for them to fix it, make sure you specify that they installed it and it needs to be fixed. Also, they couldn't have done too bad of a job if it worked perfectly for 4 years..

Also if you attempt to reconfigure it yourself it could potentially lock the starter down on the car and you would have to have it towed to some place that can fix it. Trust me, you definitely want someone to do this for your.

Remote starter only allows my starter to turn over twice; needs at least 3 with my key. How to adjust to have it starter run longer on remote?

I know you are looking to have the remote starter run a third time but I would say you need to look at your Fuel Pressure Regulator on the Scion. Sounds like it is not holding fuel pressure at the fuel rail and that is why it requires a third Crank

I have a1998 blazer with a viper remote start and alarm system 160xv truck died going down road. Replaced icm and fuel pump.. no power to pump.. relay for pump good what would be my next step..

Take out the viper system. Repair wires as you go. First, no one wants to steal your truck. Second, aftermarket systems are lucky to live past 5 years. I take them out all the time.

Cant start car with key

It sounds like you might be having an issue with the transponder or "chip" in that key. When you turn the key and it doesn't start you probably see a flashing key icon on the dash with a circle and a line through it. When you remote start the car it is using a by pass module to trick the car into thinking you have a valid transponder key in the ignition when it starts up. Go to a locksmith and have another key cut and programmed to the car.

I tried to start my 2000 pontiac montana , It turned over at first then kinda backfired ,then would not turn over, cleaned all battery, and installed a new starter still wont turn over , I jumped the...

If it backfired it's quite often timing. I don't know what motor you have but see if you can check the timing. If it's not the timing check if the car has a camshaft and or crankshaft sensor. If one of those go bad she wont start. Another quick test is to spray starting fluid or some carb cleaner into the intake and swing it over ... if it starts you have a fuel issue. Maybe the pump.

Viper works but remote start and keyless entry does not

On the remote start part, it might be as simple as relearning the tach. To do this, crank the car with the key, press and hold the valet switch until the led lights and stays solid now release.Try the remote start. Need to know what kind of car to comment on doorlocks.

Viper Remote Start, Jeep Grande Cherokee, Going crazy!

no - unfortunately "any mechanic" does not have the training to troubleshoot an alarm system, and a dealership does not work on anything aftermarket.
Your best bet is to visit DEI (Directed Electronics Inc.) website and find an authorized dealer near you... most likely a car audio shop.
Best Buy usually hires newbies as installers and they dont have much experience... Look for an independant shop.

CLICK HERE to go to the Viper Site. (Find a Store is at the top of the page)

The brain module cannot be repaired - the ignition and starter relays are integrated on the controller board. Since it is 2 years old - there may not be a replacement part available.

Good Luck!!
