Restocking fees What are your restocking fees on returns?

Yeah, Best Buy is falling off. Everytime I go in the sales associate does not seem to have interest in the questions I am asking. I too have been hit with the ridiculous restocking fee. Also, Circuit City sells things (USB car radio) that Best Buy does not, and they offer free install. Why are we still shopping at "Best Buy"?

I think that this "solution" is terrible. What happens if you open a item and you just don't like it? There should be a short window of time (7 maybe 14 days, longer if it is purchased during the holidays for someone as a gift) where there is not a 15% percent stocking fee. I did not know this until I received an e-mail about it. I am seriously considering not shopping at Best Buy for these types of products.

Greetings ossining,

Best Buy ™ stores only have restocking fees on certain items. They are digital camcorders, digital cameras, notebook computers, radar detectors, projectors, mobile video, and gps units. The restocking fee is 15%. This applies if the unit has been opened.

I hope this helps!

Thank you,

Dorothy

Can a business charge you over 50% of the purchase price for restocking fees?

Unless this was clearly indicated at point of sale I would definitely contest it. Hopefully you used a credit card when they nailed you. Fight the charge by advising your credit card company you have no intention of paying it.

Order wrong phone case

If is came via mail order Esther, you will need to contact the seller. The details are in the confirmation email. You will be responsible for the return postage, probably a restocking fee and postage back to you.

Usually there is a warranty period like 30 days.Ask for a replacement if that dont work either there is another problem goin on.Then just ask for your money back, there is sometimes a restocking fee.

Books i wish to return as I ordered 4 instead of 1

Check the sellers return policy. If they accept returns call them to gain the specifics on returning the extra item, they may charge you a restocking fee(which, in itself is bogus).

Return Hannspree LCD monitor

Only the company that you purchased it from can answer that question for you. Sometimes a store manager can waive the restocking fee, but that depends on the store and the manager. CC returns may not always show up right away, I believe they have up to 30 days to process the transaction, but usually happens sooner. Again, check the store that you purchased it from as they will have definite answers to these questions.

Upgrade to D60

Hey mcheng,
Since I am assuming you have opened the D40 the store can charge you a 15% restocking fee, but with an exchange they rarely do. Without the restocking fee you would just pay the difference between the two cameras’ prices. Remember the return/exchange period on digital cameras' is 14 days. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

BB return policy

Hey cometo,

The return period for most products sold through your local Best Buy™ store is 30 days, but please keep in mind that there are some exceptions. Monitors, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, radar detectors, video games purchased as used, desktop computers and notebook computers must be brought back to your local store within 14 days of purchase in order to be returned or exchanged.

Additionally, some products are subject to a 15% restocking fee if returned opened and non-defective. Those products are notebook computers, camcorders, digital cameras, projectors, radar detectors, GPS navigation devices, and all mobile (in-vehicle) video systems. For special order products however, the restocking fee is 25%.

Remember that the restocking fee is only charged when the product is returned opened and non-defective - we are unable to waive this fee if you are simply dissatisfied with your purchase.

If you are still unsure and would like further clarification of these policies, I would strongly suggest checking out our return policy FAQ by following the link I've provided below.

FEES

Hey cap33kla,

Please keep in mind that Best Buy™ stores do charge a 15% restocking fee on products from select categories whenever they are returned both opened and non-defective. Those categories include laptop computers, digital cameras, camcorders, GPS devices, radar detectors, mobile video products and PC/video projectors. Additionally, a 15% restocking fee may be charged if a product is returned with components missing that were included in the original packaging (such as owner's manual, power cords, and other accessories).

If you were charged a restocking by your local store and were not missing any components when you returned the iPod, you may wish to speak with a manager at that store location or a Consumer Relations representative at 888-Best-Buy (888-237-8289) for further assistance.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
