Question about Coffee Makers & Espresso Machines

Briel Sintrac cofee/express machine

My machine was working fine. There was no power today when I tried to make coffee. I unplugged the machine and when I tried to plug in the gfi kept going off. I then reset the gfi and plugged in another appliance and there was power, the gfi remained on. However, when I plug the Briel back the gfi shuts off. The last thing I did to my machine was add more water to make more coffee shortly after it had finished brewing. This machine is only 3 months old.ANy suggestions other than send it in for repair?

same thing just happened to me. Model B40. Keeps tripping the GFI but nothing else does. Been plugged into the same GFI for a year.

Same EXACT issue! I made a cup, came back about an hour later, refilled the resivoir and the machine was off. noticed the GFI was tripped, and the machine trips it everytime I put it back in. Nothing else does. All I can figure is that it is on an amp service in the kitchen where it needs more than on the cicuit - but why after a year? Also, kitchaid large machine does not trip it?...help

Have the same problem with the B40 model. It has worked well for a year and as of today will not power on when plugged into outlets with GFI. I'd like to know if this is something that can be repaired.

I can't get any power to turn on my B60. I checked the plug and gfi and they have no problems. The machine worked fine a few days ago - I went to make a cup this a.m. and it just has now power.

Hi,

The problem is often that the machine develops a leak in the hose that is rightover the transformer...the water drips onto the transformer and kills that...then you have no power to run the machine.

Here is a tip that I wrote about this problem...

We unplugged our Bunn and left it unplugged overnight to do some painting. When we plugged it back in the light doesn't come on the warmer and the water does not heat.

The unit is not getting power. If the receptacle is protected by a GFI, then press the Reset button. Otherwise, check that the circuit breaker (or fuse) to that receptacle isn't tripped.

When i plug it in it trips my gfi and it is not on

This can be caused by one of two things. (1) The GFI plug has a problem: it could be broken behind the face plate, or some of the wires in the box are so close that when you push a plug into the outlet, they touch and trip the GFI. (2) The other source is due to a defect in the appliance between the cord and the power switch. That is why the GFI faults even before it the coffee maker is turned on.

Have the outlet checked thoroughly and make any needed adjustments / repair /replacement and reconnect the coffee maker again. If it trips, the coffee maker will need to be serviced. DO NOT use the coffee maker in another non-GFI outlet until it has been checked out. The chances of electrical shock or burns is significant until the problem is found and corrected.

Trips GFI circuit brakers

First of all, lets clarify what is going on. You say it trips the GFI breaker, so I'm assuming that it is not a GFCI receptacle that you are plugging into. So you are going to the electrical panel and resetting the GFCI breaker.  If it were a GFCI receptacle, have you tried other loads in this receptacle for 30-40 seconds, ie: Toaster, hairdryer, coffee pot? If everything works fine then there is something wrong with the ESP8XL. It would seem that there is a leakage path to ground from one of the conductors. If it is new, bring it back.

I have a model 50 Keurig that started tripping the 15 amp GFI in the kitchen. I went to the opposite counter with out the GFI and had no further problems with power. This a.m. the machine was trying to heat...

most Keurig cofee makers will trip 15amp GFI'S .
So you should unplug the machine take all the water out wait about 1/2 hour . Then plug it into an outlet that has at least 115volts and 20 amp breaker or fuse . You can purchase plu in testers at radio shack or electrical supply store.

let me know.

You're not alone.  Same problem here.  Breakaway power cord on my Waring deep frier burnt to a crisp.  Don't known about you, but I'll never buy Waring products again.
