Question about Desa International Blower Glow Warm Wall Heater

2 Answers

I was told my Glow Warm Wall heater model# 2W070D2FQ was already made for propane use. Bought this during an ice storm couple years back. Thought I'd put it to use this year. Is this true?

That does not come up as a model number.
The model should be similar to GW26P or similar.

Can you check the model number again.
Also there will be a number on the gas regulator that could be used to tell if the unit was LP or natural if you can not find the model number.

Thanks

Without the model number of the heater it is hard to give an accurate answer but I will give you some suggestions.

I would start with cleaning the pilot ODS assembly.
http://www.msservice.net/ts/reseat_thermo-clean_pilot-ODS.htm

I would check the regulator on the heater...if it is propane these gas get raw gases in the regulator and cause the unit not to pressure up correctly.

Give these items a try first before replacing any parts.

Can I convert my natural gas glo-warm wall heater to propane?

Converting gas appliances normally entails the replacement of a jet that controls the flow of gas and in most cases, the manufacturer will (or will not) have replacement jets available. If they do, it should not be costly or difficult since they are often only screwed on.

I bought a comfort glow vent-less space heater model # CJ18NL. It had a natural gas valve on it and the guy said I could put on a propane valve, which I did. It's not lighting. Is this model only good...

According to the Comfort Glow Website, this is a Natural Gas unit. If you use propane you will need
a minumum 100# LP Cylinder and a pressure regulator. I have a Comfort Glow unit and went through the same process.

If you have it hooked up to a 30lb cylinder without a regulator I would think that if you purged the gas line
of air you should be able to light the pilot.

On a new unit you can expect to push the spark ignitor button at least a dozen times while holding
down the gas valve button.

Good Luck

The serviceman said we needed a thermacouple for GloWarm Model FBS-28000LP wall-mounted propane heater. Where can I buy one?

Bring the old one to a good hardware store or home center, they should be able to match it up. Find a store that sells heaters and you will have a better chance.

Propane heater has spark but wont light

ODS/Pilot may be clogged make sure you clean it out according to the instructions in your owner's manual. If you need a copy of the manual let me know and I will try to find it for you. If it is still not working it could be the gas regulator or the ignitor cable. For Glow warm parts contact Master Parts at 800-446-1446 or you also can find them online at www.masterparts.net. I hope this helps you!

Does not freeze items / ice build up on the back wall

Your defrost heater is probably gone. Or you could have a bad thermister. This is not a job for the ordinary householder. Get a pro. This ice box has a computer board that relys on thermisters to report frost buildup and proper defrost proceedure.
