Same problem for me. I did unplug it And at least it started working again-Before it was also frozen. Would not even let me turn it off.

It will not recognise the new ink cartridge.

There were no covers on the cartridge-printer is only 3 months old.
I have replaced the ink before with no problems.
There is a little conection on the cartridge and I swapped it with the old one that had worked before-no help.
I'm going to return to the staples and see if the cartridge will work in another printer-maybe faulty or no ink.. 120 miles round trip.
So far kodak is of no help-I'm beginning to think they know about the problem and do not know how to correct it..

It turned out to be a bad ink cartridge. No Ink!

Put the new one in and it works fine..

Checked the date and it was suposed to be good till 5-2009..

Still no word from kodak-I had sugested to them that it might be the ink in my first e-mail. They ignored that thought. Just glad it is OK.

    Thanks

Be sure you removed the little transparent protector strips from the new replacement cartridges, or they will not register correctly.

Hi I have a Lexmark 5000/6000 series serial # oobb8190631. Every time I go to print the printer starts then stops then says "carrier jam" . I order new correct style ink nd the ink seems perfect to fit...

Give it a good clean right through, including the print head with an appropriate material such as isopropyl. . Disconnect it from your PC, uNINSTALL THE SOFTWARE. Do a disk clean up and a disk defragmentation procedure,. Restart the PC and reinstall the software, that should clear the fault

Printer will acknowledge only 3 of 4 new ink cartridges - keeps saying change LC51M

doesn't LC51M refer to Magenta(red) not Cyan(blue). on my J435W the colors goes as follows: BK Y C M LC71 Series cartridges. Maybe you have them switched around? just a thought.

Installed new ink and now won't print anything, not even a test page. says error. deskjet 4400 series

Each ink cartridge has a metal, thin Copper 'plate'.
In this 'plate' there is a series of VERY small holes. The holes are so small it's hard to discern their existence, with just the ***** eye.

The area on the printer's body, that the copper plate matches up to, also has matching holes.

After a given time the ink dries up in these tiny holes.
The dried ink needs to be removed.

Printer UNPLUGGED from power, printer case open.
I would suggest wearing dish washing gloves, and remove all ink cartridges.

Small bowl half full of distilled water as hot as you can stand it, dip a clean, lint-free cloth in it. (Distilled, because non-distilled water can leave hard water spots)

Squeeze all excess water out until the cloth is damp. (D-A-M-P) Wipe the area on the body of the printer.

I would suggest wiping in one direction only. Wipe, then go to a fresh, clean part of the cloth, wipe again.
Keep wiping until the cloth picks up No ink.

You may want to follow suit on the ink cartridge/s now, as they may have picked up dried ink.

Suggest use a can of compressed air for computers, and make SURE all areas are D-R-Y.

Allow the printer to set open to dry afterwards. May only take 30 minutes, or less.

Ensuring all surfaces are dry from the water, reinstall the ink cartridges.
Close the printer's case. Plug back into power, WAIT 1 minute, then turn on.

Hi Bill,
Have you tried the printers on another PC?Please do.
  • Whats the Operating System on your PC?Do the printer drivers correspond with that Operating System? If not, download the corresponding drivers from this dell support site. This you select under compatibility.
  • After uninstalling the printer, disconnect fully and unplug from power.Reboot your PC before installing the printer again.
Hope this helps.Thanks!

After installing re-filled ink cartridges, both color and back & white, the printer message that shows ink level still shows low level ink? How do we resolve?

Hello,

Try this procedure:
1. Open printer lid so cartridges move to center of carriage.
2. Lift clamp and remove black or color cartridge from the holder.
3. Place cartridge on table with copper contact strip facing you.
4. Carefully place a strip of clear plastic tape over the four contacts on the upper left corner of the cartridge.
5. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position.
6. Open lid and remove cartridge again. Remove tape from left side and place tape over four contacts at upper right corner of cartridge.
7. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position again.
8. Open lid again, remove cartridge, remove tape.
9. Reinstall cartridge and close lid.
Printer will now recalibrate. Once the process is complete the ink level meter should be reading full again.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Installing ink cartridge

I've had this problem too. The only way to make the message go away is to buy the ink from Dell. Although generic ink cartriges will work the printer will not/can not reset the "low ink" message unless you buy the cartriges directly from Dell. So you can use another brand, but you'll just have to overide the low ink message when it pops up by telling it to continue printing. Then you can tell when the ink is low by seeing it when it prints out.

Stripes on printout MD5000P

This happens alot, iteithermeans your inks running low, your inks too new, or its a low quality printer.
My suggestion would be to check your ink level, and if its fine, print out a few pages, then see if it helps.
