No, it did not heat then either. The repair person said it was because it was connected to the cold water feed and that we needed to connect it to the hot water feed. HOWEVER, it worked fine for 6 years on the cold water feed so I am doubtful that that is the problem What do you think?

What would happen if we don't connect the hot water... our washing machine is one of those produced around 5 years ago. I mean is hot water necesary?

depends on your personal preference
IN this country you are hard pressed to get a machine that heats the water so hot tap water is an option available but with the cost of energy most people use cold water and cold water detergent
the results are the same with less color runs and clothes shrinkage
I have hot water hose connected but always select cold wash

1 1/2 year old machine runs but does not pull water from air

is the condenser getting cold at all? if not or only a little, you have a compressor issue. possibly no refrigerant. also check the air flow. if the fan isn't on, it'll just get too hot and water won't condense on heat.

1 year old Frigidaire front loading washing machine will only

Check the water inlet valve. Unplug the machine, turn off the water, and remove the supply hoses. Check the small metal screens inside the openings on the water inlet valve. Make sure they are clear of rust or debris. Pay particular attention to the hot water side. Check the solenoids using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity means a bad solenoid and the valve assy will need replaced. I'll attach a photo for reference. Hope this helped and best wishes.

No cold rinse, only hot

Either the wires have come loose on the water valve or you have a defective water valve.Open the lid and look at the water valve. Are all wires connected?
If yes, replace the water valve.

My washing machine is not changing cycles. It fills, drains and refills. It sat unused for 1 year. 12 months ago it was working fine.

Hi there. I can help you.

When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. If this is the case, turn off the water and remove the hoses. Check both hoses to be sure the filter screens are not clogged with crud and that the hoses aren't kinked.

Hot water goes into cold water washes

It is normal for the machine to cycle between hot and cold water when filling even if selecting a cold cycle. The reason for this is because even a cold cycle requires the water temperature to be 78F for the soap to break up efficiently.

During the cold months the water in your pipes is probably less than 78F so the machine will need to add some hot water to bring it up to this temperature. Basically, it is adding cold and then hot water to maintain a temperature in the tub of 78F for cold water cycles.

Hope this helps, please rate my solution.

Temperature Control Problem

is washer less than a year old? if so call reapir ..there was an issue with the temp controls on a small number of those machines they use an electronic control in what looks like a mechanical switch..if over a yr old could still be a temp switch but be sure hoses are connected correctly and on a rinse cycle the water does come in hot ..don't worry too much about wash cycles temp is controlled to to prset temps and is based on final water temp in tub after fill not incoming water temp
