A wad of tissue soaked in white vinegar will remove spots if left in place for several minutes then wiped.

I'm cleaning my rim and for some reason it is turning a gold color. What could be the reason for this?

Can be several reasons. Some types of plating or covering is the top finish of the wheel, but the base metal is a different color and not pretty.

I have seen chromed wheels bleed down to the core behind the lead wheel weights. Those left a bronze mark in the same place and outline of the lead weights.

Now there are different procedures in producing a finish on metal. Some use an acid bath and different chemicals produce colors in metal. Sounds like the wheel you have could have been surface etched and now the top finish is rubbed down below its finish. Some makers use a clear coat to maintain the finish longer.

You should contact the Car company who made your wheel for ideas about refinishing them. Now there are some excellent spray paints for coating wheels and the cost is minimal and some use spray cans and others need air compressor spray guns. Likewise some need an adhesive base coat and some need a protective clear coat. Its all about compatible layers of coatings.

My personal experience, for instance, on my 83 GM Pontiac Aluminum rims was to use the finest grade steel wool and remove the old chipped surface by hand rubbing to clean metal. Then using Mothers products to hand buff to a brighter finish and then thoroughly remove all traces of chemicals with an alcohol wash. The top coat was a spraycan application of specific "Wheelcoat" clearcoat.

Please rate my info.

I have a new Kenmore Elite dryer. It is the bronze color. It has tiny hairline scratches on the surface. How can I get rid of them?

Try some automotive rubbing compound. Use an applicator sponge and work a light coat of the compound into the painted surface using small circular patterns. Allow the compound to dry to a hazy finish, then buff off with a clean cotton cloth. You can follow up with a light coat of car wax to keep the finish shining. Yes...automotive products can restore the metal finish (if not severely damaged) of most appliance cabinets. I hope this helps you.

Note: To ensure the rubbing compound will give you desired results, test the product in a small area before coating the entire surface.

Dishes don't get very clean. Especially anything oily or greasy. I don't think the water hot enough or the pressure isn't good. House water pressure is fine. Using gel soap.

Ok, in my personal working on unit I find that gel soap is not good for dishwashers, Run you sink hot before starting the cycle and go to your local walmart they sell a product call lemi-shine start you unit and let it fill and wash when the unit stops in the first cyc restart the unit rapidly without letting the lemi-shine get drained out and do this repeatedly until the whiteish film is all gone then also inspect the hole opening on your spray arms they will also be plugged with soap us caution when poking something in them to open the holes up all this can be done while the lemi-shine is in the tub once this is all done get a powder dish soap and don't fill each of the dispenser full 1/4 should be ok depending of the oily dishware. If this is more than something you would like to do service maybe required.

How do I clean my Timberland Stormbuck (Nubuck) shoes?

  • Purchase cleaning products and brushes directly from Timberland. Their products are designed for suede, leather and nubuck.
  • Go to a shoe store like Footlocker and ask for the products they carry to clean your Timberland boots. Some sell kits and others carry suede erasers to clean the boots.
  • Wet a rag and wipe it all over the surface of the shoe. Spray on shoe cleaner and rub gently with a sponge. Rinse and let dry. Timberlands dry quickly.
  • Use a soft brush to scrub away excess dirt. Hold the boot over steam as you scrub.
  • Try baby wipes to clean your leather Timberland boots. They'll moisturize the leather and clean off grime.
  • Put your boots on, and use a wet rag as though you were giving yourself a shoe shine. Finish the spots you couldn't reach with a brush.
  • Use mink oil or saddle soap on leather boots. Both will keep the boots waterproof. Work either into the leather with a soft rag.

Overnight, the dishes have a cloudy "scum" on them after washing

The problem is hard water. www.dishwasherfilter.com has a product to solve this problem once and for all. It filters the water going into your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that leave those spots. It is very affordable and even has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look with this product.

I have a new stainless steel stove which now has brown burnt spots on it. How can I get the original shine back.

A really good stainless steel polish and some ultra fine sand paper or a sanding sponge should do the trick to remove the burnt spots. Use very light pressure in a circular motion to remove some of the surface area of the stainless steel to remove those stubborn spots. Then finish off the rest with the polish.

Peeling paint coming off of oil rubbed bronze basket strainer

Bronze is more expensive than standard mass production is worth, i supposed if you want them made out of any mat. you can call kohler and pay for it, i've been to their plant and they do some pretty awsome custom work.
Rubbed oil is just a color and somtimes "you get what you pay for" if you buy a cheap basket strainer they usually do exactly what you're saying.
You can buy more expensive strainers that have a better finish, I know Kohler and Moen have lifetime warranty finish on many of their higher end products.

How to remove burnt grease, fix lightly scratched black stovetop?

Hi, I assume we are talking about a flat glass top. First the bad news. using any abrasives will permanently scratch the glass hence the dull spot. You can however make it look a little better. Grease spots and the like can be removed with a flat razor blade scraper which needs to be held flat to avoid the corners making scratches. Use any good glass/ceramic cooktop cleaner ( which is the ONLY cleaner you should ever use ) (available in your local grocery diy store and some hardware stores). The cleaner is a thick liquid, put about a dime size drop on each burner area and use a paper towel to buff out the finish like waxing a car. Once it looks clean flip your paper towel over and shine the top to like new. Good Luck!

Line on Scanned Documents

There is a spot on the thin strip of glass that sits next to the large scanner glass. Because you are moving the paper when using the feeder, a spot appears as a line. Shining a flashlight on the glass can help you locate it. You can scrape it off with a finger nail or clean it with a damp cloth.
