It probably means that you're very lucky that your screen is failing and probably NOT the Video Card on *********** board. Either borrow a monitor and hook it to your computer (and see if the line appears on the borrowed monitor...if not, you know your monitor is failing) or take your computer to a friend's place and hook it to his/her monitor which will produce the same troubleshooting answer with the reversed conponents, if the line appears on his otherwise normal LCD, your video card is the problem.

Need a hp part number for a lcd display for a HP Pavilion dm4t-1200 laptop.

I would like you to try using HP's Part Surfer.

1) Put your Product Number, or Serial Number in the Quick Search box,
(P/N = Product Number.
S/N = Serial Number.

{DO NOT give out the serial number on a public forum such as this. Only on the HP website}

2) Then click the blue down arrow on the right side of the - Select a country or region - box, and click on your country.

3) Finally go back to the Quick Search box, and click on the side arrow to the right.

Post back in a Comment as to your findings.
We'll go from there.

On the back of the LCD screen is the HP part number.

http://www.screentekinc.com/HP_Pavilion_DM4T--14-inch--1366x768-wxga_hd-laptop-lcd-screen.shtml

{Scroll the page down, and see if any of the 36 part numbers may be a match}

[ P.S.
You can disconnect the LCD display, and use an external VGA monitor, while you wait for the replacement LCD screen.

1) Laptop off, VGA monitor off.
2) Connect the VGA monitor to the Left side of the laptop.
( External monitor port. The VGA connector resembles this one,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SVGA_port.jpg

3) Turn the VGA monitor on. Wait for it to 'warm up'.
Turn the laptop on.

If the display does not automatically go to the external monitor;
Press, and hold down on the Fn key.
Tap the F4 key.

(The VGA monitor can be a CRT monitor, {Looks like a small TV}, or a flat LCD screen monitor that has a VGA connector, and a VGA cable ]

I suggest you start diagnosing by using an external monitor, if available.
A VGA monitor.

(It can be a VGA monitor that looks like a small TV, {CRT}, or an LCD flat screen that has a VGA cable attached.
More information on VGA connectors,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

Laptop off, and VGA monitor off, connect the VGA cable of the monitor to the Left side of the laptop.
(Rear top port)

Turn the monitor on, and then the laptop.
Do you see a display on the external monitor? (VGA monitor)

No?
Press, and hold down on the Fn key (Function Key), and tap once on the F4 key.

A) If BOTH the external monitor screen, and the laptop screen have the same pinkish display, the problem is the graphics chip. (More on graphics chip in a moment)

B) If just the laptop screen is pinkish, and the external monitor graphics are okay, the problem is inside the laptop display.

1) Could be a loose connection of the Display Panel Cable.
{The Display Panel Cable attaches to the motherboard, and the LCD screen in the laptop display}

2) Could be a bad Display Panel Cable.
Possible damage to the Display Panel Cable is the the laptop display was open.

Look for signs of damage to the sheath of the Display Panel cable.
However the damage may not be apparent. The Display Panel Cable could have been stretched.
(Laptop display open when dropped)
The tiny wires inside the Display Panel Cable could have become damaged.

Testing requires that the Display Panel Cable be removed.
A multimeter is used to check continuity of each wire.

{Multimeter function knob is set to Ohms. 1K or 10K if these settings are available.
The Positive probe lead (Red) is touched to a wire at one end of the Display Panel Cable.
The Negative probe lead (Black) is touched to the other end of the wire.

Analog multimeter needle swings up, you have continuity. Don't worry about the Ohm reading at this point. As long as the needle moves.

No movement? Have a helper gently move the Display Panel Cable around.
See if there is continuity shown, or is intermittently shown.
Indicates a break in the wire.
Solution is to replace the Display Panel Cable.

Same with a digital multimeter. No reading, or intermittent reading indicates a broken wire.

Display Cable Kit - HP Part Number 595196-001
I have seen several listings on the internet.

3) Could be a bad LCD screen.

Check the connections.
Check the display panel cable
If this checks out okay suspect the LCD screen.

That sounds like you are developing a faulty screen. Spares are plentyfull on ebay.com and not that expensive.
It may be a poor connection on the rear of the screen but not very likely. If you plug your laptop into and external display, to prove the VGA processor is OK first before purchasing a new screen. Replacing the screen can be done at home if you are mechanically minded and methodical. Ensure you adhere to anti static precautions!
Hope that helps.

Hello..i have laptop hp dv2750 model..display is not working properly but it has power..the screen appears sometimes stripe green of stripe pink..now i cant open it anymore..what is the problem with my...

On your model the Plugin on the mainboard for the LCD is on the left next to the power button under the power panel. You can remove the power panel by pulling the battery out by removing the screws in the battery compartment area. It may take some effort but the Power panel can be taken up and you can make sure that the LCD cable is plugged in tight.

This can also happen because of a bad LCD, cable, or video card. See my post here:

http://www.fixya.com/support/t2998701-no_display

It explains the basics of why it happens and what you can do about it.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it. Thanks...

Right half of screen is Black with a White vertical stripe

Yeah, I have this exact same problem, except my mom slammed my laptop shut in frustration around half an hour ago, so that's why it's like this. The right half of my screen is black with two colorful stripes (mostly white), but the left half is visible. I've researched a bit and found out that this is because the LCD in your monitor has burnt out, and since you don't have a monitor to attach, the only thing you can do is to go to where you bought the laptop and either get it fixed for free or return it for a brand new one (if your warranty still stands). If not, you might as well get a new laptop. I think my warranty has expired, so I'll get a new laptop, hopefully.

Hope this helps!

Display has 2 inch black stripe running vertically down screen

I have an IBM think pad that developed a 2 inch black strip on the left side of my dispaly. I tried restoring to a previous setting, I updated video drivers, I reset display properties. None of the above worked and am now thinking of formatting and reinstalling windows as a last hope unless someone has any other ideas.
