If you found a spring from the fuser and a flat blade like piece of black plastic this would be a detach finger and tension spring all fusers have the they help prevent the paper from rolling up on the fuser roller. fusers have either 5 or 6 depending on the model.they will funtion muinus one of these. if you get regular paper jams in the fuser of if they start replace fuser

Assuming that the fuser "fingers" are well assembled you need to see if the fit is ok. It happenes all the time that this fit is broken and can not holds the "fingers"

Paper Jam in fuser on my CP2025. I have opened all drawers and doors and was able to find jam. but a small piece of the paper was torn and inside of the fuser assembly. Any way to open fuser assembly?

The steps to remove the fuser from the printer at quite lengthy and should be avoided if at all possible. Any way you can get to the paper as is? Also be careful when trying to get paper out of the fuser as it is easy to damage either the rubber pressure roller or the telfon coated hot roller. Sometimes small jams will come out if you can get the printer to print a page.

I have an HP Laserjet 5mn printer. I started getting papers jams from the printer the other day. It now jams all the time. The jam is located at the fuser rollers. I noticed that the lower rubber roller...

If the paper is jamming like an accordian (sp?) effect, then the output roller assembly needs to be replaced. If its jamming at the fuser assembly, you probably have a bad gear or worn out roller. Since the unit is really old, your best bet is to replace the whole fuser assembly. You could probably do this yourself, and the fuser would be approx. $40 - $95.

if its the output assembly, I would really recommend taking it to a service center, the output assembly would be approx. $45-$55 plus $40-60 for labor. If you want to do it, you will need to take out the 2 screws in the back and the 2 screws on the top (left and right) to take out the top cover. Be careful with the cable, pull it out. The output assembly has 2 plastic indents that you push inward, and flip the assembly outword and pull up. When putting the new one in, make sure the notches go into the bottom frame.

thanks, and I hope this helps.

Brother mfc 9880 fax/copier makes grinding noise and has paper jams

Probably a broken Hot Roller gear in the fuser. The fuser is the section in the back, that presses the print between a pair of hot rollers to melt the powdered toner into the paper, making the image permanent. That combination of heat and pressure makes the fuser vulnerable to breakage in any laser printer or copier. The HR (hot roller) gear is a ring around one end of the heated roller, and it sometimes breaks apart.
The MFC 9880 isn't listed on Brother's US service website, so I can't tell you whether you need to buy a whole fuser assembly or just that gear.

Jamming paper at fuser. Paper try is pulling fine. Stops at Fuser

Open the fuser and look at the exit area. There should be little scrapers (pick off fingers). These are mostly spring loaded and rest on the upper fuser roller. If the spring or pressure level is missing or detached, the scraper /finger will hang in the paper path and catch the paper. There could be 4-6 scrapers. The main scrapers needed are the 2 ends and the middle. So if a spring is missing you could take the scraper/ finger out. **** MAKE SURE AS TO NOT SCRAPE THE FUSER ROLLER AS THIS WILL LEAVE A MARK ON EVERY COPY*****

HP Laserjet 4100 series , paper jam output tray.( on top of the printer ). The roller under the topcover is turning the wrong way. The paper can't get out of the printer, and jams between the upper roller...

Hi F_bulsara,
First thing to try is to flip the paper over in the input tray. There are 2 sides to paper. One side may curl a bit too much due to heat of the fuser and get caught near the output rollers.

Unless the Output Assembly was assembled wrong, it is impossible for the rollers to turn the wrong way. The gear in the fuser drives the output assembly. The top rollers are rolling out.
If the rollers are not rolling, then one of the gears must be broken or missing. The output rolllers might need cleaning.

Next check the fuser unit. Disconnect power to printer and turn printer round. Remove the back output tray and the two small covers (left and right). Undo the 2 screws that hold the fuser in place. Pull the fuser out. Check the gears on side of the fuser. A broken gear in the fuser could cause this problem.

Paper Jam

hi,

maybe your fuser assembly has a problem with fuser sleeves i think it's lack of silicon paste which is causing the jam on your fuser assembly. try to apply a silicon paste if have it but if not you need to drop it on a service center

What you can try is just replacing the fuser drive gear and the bushings on the heat roller.
That small tube your relating to is the heat roller. The plastic like busings are really tight not allowing it to move freely.
Not the easiest fuser to rebuild to be honest. You will also want some high temperature lubricant to use on those bushings and also on the pressure roll shaft to make that roller run smoother.
Clean it well and be sure it is running free.
You need to look at the heat roll and presure roller carefully to check for wear and grooves. If they are worn, you will be better off replacing the fuser then trying to rebuild it.
I will provide you the link to an excellent parts source, click on parts then the scroll down tot the XD125, They have about everything you want for that fuser.
If you call ask for Britt..
