Question about Philips Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I own a Philips CD 950 player. I now cannot open or close the CD compartment. How do I remove my disc? I live in Manhattan, New York City and wonder if there is a service center near me.

The small gear that opens or closes the door goes bad after 10 or 15 years. The gear is not available separately. The solution is easy. Take the deck cover off with a torx bit, and remove the broken gear pieces. Push the CD transport door out, and fasten heavy clear mailing tape on both top and bottom of the center of the CD transport door to make a Grab Tab you can use to pull the door open. When you load the CD you are going to hear, push the door open/close switch twice to fool the deck to go into PLAY mode. Mine has worked great like this for 6 years now, and it still sounds beautiful.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

It is likely worn drive belts. There are 2 within this hi-fi. I replaced my belts with elastic bands. No issues so far.
1) Remove power and unplug unit
2) Remove 4 x lid screws and lid
3) Remove both side panels.
4) Remove silver plate from shielding cd drive
5) Replace belts with 25mm diameter bands
6) Reverse the strip down.
New belts are $6 each on e-bay

The drawer in our Harman-Kardon HD 950 CD player won't go all the way in. It gets to the point where there's about an inch sticking out, then re-opens and tries again. This is a fairly new unit. Is there...

It turned out that a CD had slid past the drawer and into the case of the CD player. Once I removed it everything was fine. I should point out that mine is *not* a 5-disc drive, but a single-disc drive, model HD 950.

I have a wurlitzer 'Manhatten'. How do I make it

Hi,

The Manhattan is made by Sound Leisure of Leeds UK.
If this is the jukebox you have, you should be able to download a manual from their sites
