I had the same problem.
Just resolder the primary winding of the transformer on the PCB.
Works fine again

Your unit's micro IC, is in need of a reset.Un-plug the unit and locate the semi large yellow capactor on the main board. (r-h side facing front) Now flip the unit over and look thru the vent holes in that same area and locate the two solder pins. Short them out with a thin metal object, like a straightened out paper clip or wire, and turn it over (just discharge the cap and remove your wire) this will default all settings and restore normal operation.

Hello. My name is Dave. The tuner is only a 2 channel device. All the other inputs, are capable of surround sound. You should have, on the back of the unit, a 5 channel, or multi-channel input, 5 female RCA jacks. If you have any unit with a variable output, you can test the surround channels directly, by plugging into any of the channels, switch the unit to mult-channel mode, with the volume down on the unit you are connecting to these jacks. See if it now works. If is does, you have issues with the DSP board. If you still don't, you may have amplifiers bad. Multiple amplifiers bad would be highly unlikely.

The problem turned out to be the power supply to the Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD), about 32 volts. One or more solder joints on the main power transformer on the main board were bad. I re-soldered all pins of the transformer, and also replaced one diode which may have been defective, or maybe it was also just a solder joint problem. Now it works fine.
