I toggled the video mode, and changed the contrast buttons. It does not help...

I opened her up. All connections seem to be intact and sturdy. The picure illuminates upon powering up and during disc play. The illumination is mainly an aqua blue background. The are some vertical blue or green lines that move horizontally when there are what I asume to be scene changes.
I shook everything around quite a bit.

The screen is not cracked. No luck so far.

The 'lid closed' button seems to react properly as I can blank the screen when pressed. The cable seems intact and snug.

The inverter PVB sounds over my head. What is this. Can I fix it?

  • dddawley May 28, 2008

Nothing here has worked yet. I have the unit apart and ready for action. The one thing I've not tried is to change the inverter pcb. I think I've located that small board across the botttom of the back LCD panel.Tape and wire connections abound and I am not an electronics wiz. Is it even feasible to locate, buy,and install a new one? Should I just punt the project and buy another?

Does the picture look like broken glass? That means your LCD has cracked due to impact. It's not worth fixing. You can use it for a portable CD player, but that's about it.

it may be due to Failed cable at the back of the

    screen :

, look for the “lid closed” switch and try pushing it a few times. It’s usually a small switch near the hinges that is pressed when the lid(the screen) is closed. Sometimes these switches get stuck in the “lid closed” position this may cause poor display . some have a magnetic switch that doesn’t get stuck.
The most common failures are the inverter, “lid closed” switch, cable, LCD, backlight.
.so open the display assembly check the cable fix it tightly and again if no improvement change the inverter PCB

yes In some cases you might hear a buzzing noise coming from the area where the inverter board is located, it’s on the bottom part of the screen .
The most common failures are : inverter Printed circuit board(pcb) if you can open then change the board

You need to check connections to the screen which will mean physically opening up the player. How is the picture exactly messed up, the picture is still recognizable and is on with the audio correct? Perhaps if you shake it a little, whatever got loose will get back in place, please give this a try as it can't make it any worse. Also, the screen isn't cracked, correct? You will be looking for cracked or just loose connections between the screen and the board. let me know what you find and whether you have any questions or concerns when doing this

yes, that wouldn't help, something internally in the device broke or is out of place, if you need help opening let me know, otherwise you should take it to an electronics repair store like Radio Shack or just buy a new one.

Audiovox PVS69701 Dual Screen DVD player monitor has blue screen

I had the same problem, and it seems to be a short in the video cable between the two monitors. I can bend my cable until i see the second screen and then tuck it under the headrest. I am currently looking for a replacement cable. I see it at 1800customersupport.com, but will also check the local radioshack since I need it quickly.

Horizontal lines on screen.

Your unit may have a loose connection from motherboard to the display (video cable inside the unit), another distinct possibility is that the video processor chip is damaged or there is a power supply problem for the video chip (a bad electrolytic cap or similar somewhere around the video IC).
You can check the connection, but you'll need to take the unit apart, also check other connectors, but if it's an IC problem, this could get difficult or/and costly.

Please note that these are only suggestions and that the problem may as well be something else.

Audiovox D1020 DVD player won't read DVD anymore

I have the same problem! The only way to fix this is to replace the motor that spins the DVD. if you take it apart and spin the DVD the movie will play. The motor is just wore out and has no torque to start the play process. I am still looking for a replacement motor for it and haven't found anyone that carries the motor required. Only Audiovox so far and they want 180 to send in and fix.

My friend suggested I clean the dvd optical reader lens inside the player with a fine brush (like a camera brush with a blower bulb). This seemed to help immensely. I'm not certain if this is just a temporary fix, but it seems to be ok so far.
