Hi

the computer seems to want the disc that came with the all in one printer.

To get rid of this, you would need to give it the disc, or completely remove the printer from the computer, usb cable, and all programs on the computer related to it, and then download the software from HP's website and install it to the machine.

Follow my instructions and you will do fine..

start by disconnecting the printer from the computer, then turn on the computer, does the AIO software request still come on the screen? -

To get rid of the software, you need to Hold down the windows key and press R then type appwiz.cpl and click ok.

On the add or remove programs list you need to find all the HP programs and remove each one. Computer may restart a few times while you do this.

If you are unable to do this, then lets try another way. Open the run menu as I told you earlier with the windows key and r, then write msconfig and click ok. Open the start up tab and click on disable all, then click apply and ok. Then restart the computer. And then try the previous instructions of uninstalling again.

once you have got all the hp programs related to the printer removed, then lets delete the printer. to do so. Click start, then control panel, then printers and faxes. or in some cases, just start, and then printers and faxes.

Right click on the printer and delete it. once the printer and any copies of the same printer - if exist are gone, then restart the machine.

Now if you used msconfig to get rid of the error message, hold down windows key and press r again, write msconfig and click ok. Open the start up tab and click enable all. then apply and ok, restart computer.

Now you are ready to install the printer back into the computer, you can get the drivers and software(same as the disc) from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=1128296&lc=en&cc=uk&dlc=en&submit.y=8&submit.x=5&lang=en&cc=uk

Let me know how it goes...

Then you must either obtain the AIO disc, you can order a replacement from HP. Give them a call.
Or get a professional to come over or take the computer to a repairer to get the problem sorted.

  • Ekse Oct 10, 2010

Seems like the best option or the easiest option for you would be to either restore the computer to the state it was when purchased. If you can get into start menu, there is gateway recovery program there.

If you can not get into start menu, then there might be another way to perform the restore, if you want to perform a restore let me know and I'll look into that. you might have a set of cds for restoring the computer.

Aside from reinstalling windows to the computer or perforing the factory restore I do not know what to offer you to solve this issue if its completely stuck and previous instructions have not helped.

You can ofcourse get someone to come over or take the machine to a local repairer.

Got the computer second hand the previous owner used a dell recovery disk how can I use the gateway recovery disks to get it running?

You insert the disks with the computer powered off. Then power the computer on and it should boot into the recovery and offer you options. Choose the option to reset the computer to how it was when it was new. It will take a while to wipe the hard drive completely. Then it will install the Windows version originally installed. It may reboot up to twice while doing that - you shouldn't have to do anything. It will also install any software utilities which Gateway put on the computer (some of which may be bloatware which encourages you to subscribe to services - consider uninstalling some of that and downloading your own free ones). That's it - really simple! Let us know how you get on please.

The hard disk on my gateway dx4820-05h crashed and had to replace it with a new one. I don't have a recovery disk so I tried to install windows 8 but i'm unsuccessful. During the install process,...

You will need to buy another licensed copy of windows 8 if you didn't burn the recovery disks while the system was operational.

You might also be able to buy the recovery disks from gateway them-self. Contact gateway customer support for more information. Make sure you have the make and model number for your machine and be SURE they have the correct information or you might get a disk for another system.

Download the "windows Installer cleanup utility" from microsoft --
After installing it on your computer, go to it from your programs menu and select AiO software NPI ... from the list of programs
presented. Hit the button to remove, don't worry about the pop up window that says you had a system error, just agree with it.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Since I am not sure of the details, let me offer a long review and suggestion. It may work for you, especially if the AiO software is not installing correctly.

If the KODAK AiO Home Center software fails to start or an error message appears, there may be a problem with the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 installation. To resolve this condition:

1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add / Remove Programs (for Windows XP) or Programs and Features (for Windows Vista).
3. Select Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

IMPORTANT: If other versions of Microsoft .NET Framework are listed, do not perform this operation on those other versions. Follow this procedure ONLY for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

4. Click Change / Remove (for Windows XP) or Uninstall (for Windows Vista).

5. Select Repair, and click Next.
NOTE: A progress bar shows the repair progress.

6. After the repair is complete, make sure the Restart the computer check box is selected, and click Finish.

7. After the computer restarts, start the KODAK AiO Home Center software.

IMPORTANT: If the KODAK AiO Home Center software fails to start or continues to display an error message, completely uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and do a clean reinstall KODAK AiO Home Center software. The Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 will also be reinstalled with the KODAK AiO Home Center software.

1. Follow steps 1 - 4 above.

2. Select Uninstall, and click Next.
