No offense, but don't you think I would have checked the drivers. It's a mechanical problem not a software problem. I'm looking for someone thats taken a g25 apart and knows about the contacts inside. If you haven't then I need someone else that has.

I have 5.1.127 drivers installed. The shifter also does the same thing in 2nd and 4th gears. I've had the wheel for a couple of years, so no warranty. I still think there has to be something internally wrong with it. Any suggestions?

  • robertlgreen Oct 07, 2010

I'll try that, but I won't be able to start until Friday night or Saturday. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks!

I took it apart, couldn't find any blue piece. I had previously seen a video(I think on YOUTUBE )of a guy taking his apart and wrapping the little spring in a piece of plastic, I guess to make it stronger. Anyway, I put it back together and it works fine. Don't know how long it will last, I hope long enough that I can save for a G 27 wheel. So, thanks for your help and have a great weekend

Follow these steps to fix your problem :

1.
update the Logitech profile drivers .. if u r using 5.0.4 with no problems update it to to 5.0.8

2.
try to change the setting in logitech software if it is now combined pedals change it to seperate or visa versa.

Being that this happens in game controllers the shifter is suspect. Check that all the connections on the wheel are secure and there is no damage to any of the connectors. If possible try it on another system to confirm. Also, try disconnecting all other USB devices to test for a hardware conflict with other USB devices. If none of the above indentify another problem you should exchange it where you bought it. If that isn't possible I would suggest to contact Logitech Tech Support.

Well in that case, please follow the following steps

#1 Unplug the Wheel from your PC.

#2 Find a screwdriver with a sufficiently small head, and remove all the screws from the case when to repair the shifter of Logitech .

#3 Take out the consists, which may require removing more screws, and unplug the handles.

#4 Pry the resistors and unplug the handles. Take out the consists.

#5 Wipe the surface of the potentiometer (it's the blue, rectangular item in the bottom ) with alcohol or some similar solution, then reassemble the Wheel.

#6 Plug the G25 back into the PC and test it. The mini shifter should work properly now.

1st gear has the gross effect of putting huge gear spreading actions
from top 1st gear to bottom cluster, they want to spread.
so any bearings that can allow that, there, will cause 1st to fail.

On my 2000 dodge ram 1500 transmiton starts out in 1st will not shift in 2nd will jump in to 3rd when you get the speed up fast enough, or will start out in 3rd and goto OD fine

Hello,
problem is from the gear box. The gear box has developed a fault and that is why it
starts out in 1st will not shift in 2nd will jump in to 3rd . Also, have your gear oil check to be sure it is not short.
You need to take the Dodge to your mechanic before the problem gets worse. This is not a DIY (do it yourself) job.
If you don't take it to your mechanic on time, you might end up damaging the gear box which is expensive to replace. It is still repairable for now.

I hope the above is clear.

Regards.

My 2005 r6 had all maintenance done chain and sprocket . new clutch and brakes but when i'm riding 3rd gear seams like the chain is slipping off then catching and when it catches it jumps to a high rpm ....

It sounds a lot like 3rd gear and shift fork need replacing, it seems a very common problem on the r6, jumping to a higher rpm would mean it is jumping out of 3rd and back to 2nd.
There is a slight possibility the spring and ball, that locate the shift drum, isnt holding it in gear.

I installed a muncie m20 tranny in my 72 camaro and thought the shft rods were set ..but turns out 1st gear was in the 2nd gear position i tried flipping rod paddles upside down now gears are locked up...

You are right about the shift pattern. Reverse is hard left and up.If your gears are locked up, you'll probably have to remove the side cover and reset the shift levers to their neutral position and then slide gears around to put it back on. With it back on the shift levers should point up toward the car floor. 3-4 is the shift lever closest to the engine. 1-2 is the middle one and reverse is the one closest to the back of the tranny. Check all your swivel points for looseness. If there is any play then you'll have to bush it out or you'll have trouble getting it to shift into gear and stay in. I used some old copper pipe to make bushings on mine, because it used to jump out of gear.
To properly attach your shift linkage, put the shifter and the trans mounted shift levers in neutral. Loosen the locking clamps so the shift rods slide freely. start with the reverse lever, which is the inner most rod on the shifter and tighten the rod nut against the swivel. Then tighten the lock nut. Do the same with the 1-2 rod on the middle rod on the shifter and then the 3-4 which is the outside rod . This should set you up, according to Chilton.
They note that if the tranny is 68 Camero Muncie the shift rods need to be shortened 3 complete turns of the lock nut.
Hope some of this helps.

I have a 97 f-250 7.3 with a manual trans. and it wants to jump out of reverse if I dont go to 1st gear and then to rev. first.

Sounds like the shift lever is not coming completely out of 2nd gear. So, by shifting into 1st gear, you recenter the shift lever. You can confirm this by going under the truck and moving the 1st - 2nd lever on the side of the transmission with your hand. If the shifter goes into reverse after you manually recenter the 1-2 lever, then you need to correct the problem that prevents the "normal" recentering of the 1-2 shift lever.

Possibilities are: Bent shift rod; worn shifter; worn shift rod at connection to shift lever on transmission.

Honda V1100 Jumps out of gear on full throttle acceleration

More likely it is a slightly bent shift fork not fully engaging into second. The clutch and bearings are not suspect. Remove your foot from the shift lever then go full throttle in 2nd. Those new riding boots may be doing the magic unconsciously. Adjust the shift lever height if that is the problem.

1st, 3rd and 5th Gears all pop out of place + Whining noise

hi my name is nathan .......now...... what it sounds like is #1 (I have to hold it in place til I get to second gear) that can be that your shift linkage is worn or out of adjustment, pilot bushing is Badly worn, shift fork, lever and or shaft is bent or worn,or your bell housing is misaligned or just loose...i have a few more ideas on why it is jumping out but those are the main ones now about your whining gear noise#2( The whining sound starts low pitched in each gear then gets higher pitched as the rev's increase) you may have worn gears maybe or it could be just that your transmission lubricant is incorrect or inadequate.
