Use an Ethernet cable to connect the network-port on your computer to a LAN port on your router.
Click Start
Click Run
Type CMD
Press Enter
Type IPCONFIG /renew
Look for output like: Default Gateway ... 192.168.123.456
You probably will not get '123.456'.
Start Internet Explorer.
Type http://192.168.123.456
(or whatever numbers that you saw)
Press Enter
Now, you can "login" to your router.
Run the router's "wireless networking setup wizard"
and configure your wireless network.

    > login to your router

Assuming you have a wireless router in your house and it's turned on, it should be visible. There are several reasons why it may not be. The "broadcast SSID" may be turned off. If so, turn it on. The wireless option may be turned off. If so, turn it on.
You didn't say, but I assume you see other wireless networks in the list. Are you sure yours isn't there? I'd log onto the router and see if the network (SSID) name is what you think it is.

I have a new Canon MG5220 that I am trying to set up to my imac desktop and Belkin wireless router F6D4230-4v1. I need the SSID or network name and network key or WPA/WPA2 passphrase. I don't know...

That is on your router under wireless. You have to login to your router and look for wireless settings. the passphrase should be in there. The SSID is something that you should of made. That should also be under your wireless settings. It sounds like you have the SSID broadcasting turned off. Under the wireless settings turn it back on. Turning it off only gives you problems and it is a false security thinking that someone can't get on your network when it is turned off. In the event that you can't get on your router reset it by holding in the reset button on the back of the router for 5 secs then login with the default information.

As long as the router has wireless antenna's on it or indicates it is a wireless model then all you need to do is turn on the wireless function of the router. You do this by access the router, open a web browser and try either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.0.100 one of those should be your router. Log in and go to the wireless settings. There you can enable it and configure it.

From there, as long as your laptop has a wireless network card built in, it will see the wireless network and you can just connect to it...

Thanks!

Changed from AT&T to a cable company for DSL. Trying to set up

You need to "fool" your cable box into thinking that the wireless router is the computer. This just means that the modem is locking into the first ip address it can get... it tends to block out all others. Here's how to remedy and allow everything to get access...

1 Shut off computers, routers, everything.
2. Turn on your wireless router FIRST... leave everything else off until you see it's completely booted.
3. Then with the cable connected to the modem/cable box and the router, turn on the cable box/modem and let it cycle up. This should allow the cable modem to "find" the wifi ip address as the main ip.
After that, turn on any other routers, and the computers...
This should allow you access to the net by any of your computers because the wifi router should give all the other comptuers and routers on the system inddividual ip addresses and all should be well...
Give it a try and let me know!
