Question about U-Line Refrigerator Ice Maker

U-line bar refrig/icemaker

We have a 1999 uline refrigerator ice maker that stopped working 2 years ago. The compressor and themostat was replaced. It again, has stopped working. It is getting good power, how do I check the thermostat to see if it is working properly? I doubt it is the compressor being that it is only two years old. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping there is a way to check the themostat using a multimeter and checking the resistance. Is there a way to bypass the thermostat so I can confirm a bad compressor? The manufacturer is embraco, are the know for short lives.

I would rather not give up so easy.

I called the factory re: the thermostat and they informed me that I can bypass the thermostat by jumping the blue and yellow wire, which I have not tryed yet. They also mentioned, it is unlikely a compressor because the fan would be running since it is also wired to the thermostat. They believe it points more to an electrical problem such as the "control". I believe he means the temp control. How does this sound to you and can you tell me how to check it?

    Thanks again.

Hello sir/madam,

actually u cant say in a confirmed way what the problem is.

but u say ur unit does not even start., so it can be the compressor problem 90%....

because only if the unit starts we can check if the thermostat works or not.
when ur unit does not even start it can be compressor mostly.

but bring a tech and tell him to check it,
that is the best way to find it.

feel free to ask any questions.

thank you

don't forget to rate the solution

good day

The fact that the compressor is two years old does not mean it cannot break down again, give more details on the problem to troubleshoot further

Icemaking is ok but I find water at the bottom of the frige .What seems to be the Problem tHIS A ULINE BAR REFIRERATOE WITH iCE MAKER

Your feed line may have a leak in the line itself or in one of the connectors. This it the line that sends water to the automatic ice-maker. Check the line coming from the wall to the ice-maker connector and slide your hand down the line. You will find water somewhere along this line and you have found your leak. This should be very easy to fix.

Ice maker stopped working. the water and ice dispense from the door, but it does not make any NEW ice...

The water tube to the icemaker inside the refrig is frozen up. Thaw out with your hair dryer. To make sure the tube is clear. Shut of the water to the refrig, disconnect the inlet water line to the icemaker. Insert a flexable through the connector fitting, I used a zip tie. The flexable item should go all the way to the icemaker

Solution #2 Replace the "water inlet valve" at bottom back right of refrig. Easy To Do.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Maytag fridge no water to icemaker any suggestions

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into ice maker . If it freezes and dumps , replace the water valve . If it does not dump , replace the icemaker . Also make sure the coils are clean beneath refrig , and the clear fill tube , which fills the icemaker , is clear of ice (not frozen up ).

I have a Whirlpool refrige. side by side and the ice maker has stopped working. The infrared light keeps blinking. I have unplugged it a couple of times as well as turned the infrared off. Any advice?

The laser , is supposed to blink . This laser , tells the icemaker to stop making ice , when the bin is full . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker . If it doesn't dump the cubes into the bin , the icemaker is bad . Or , if there is ice in the bin , which hasn't dumped , the icemaker is bad . If the icemaker dumps the ice ( from water pour ) , then look above the fill cup , and see if the black fill tube is frozen . If so , then replace the water valve and turn the freezer temp down slightly . It will take several days for this fill line inside freezer to thaw . If icemaker dumps , and black tube NOT frozen , replace the water valve . The valve , is where the wall water line connects to on the refrig

My under counter Uline refrigerator/ice maker suddenly trips GFI

I here this alot. If you have a compressor on a gfi the compressor after awhile would trip it. The compressor start amps is usually higher than the gfi is rated. So you have 2 choices. Replace the GFI and try to find one with higher amp ratings. Or install a normal outlet for your unit. Your code will usually call for a gfi, If it does then replace with a new gfi.
To explain the start amps on a compressor depending on your model could be 10 amps. This is for a split second. However the gfi can become week after time. You can also try to plug the unit into a normal outlet to make sure everything is good on the unit. I believe it is the gfi

Uline Icemaker has dammaged gasket door

no, you will need to replace the gasket. U-line gasket is easy to install. You can visit their website and under customer service you will see parts locator. The gasket just pulls out of the track and the new one pushes back in the track. www.u-line.com
