SOURCE: Replace Fuser Gear Xerox XC1040 Copier

Call a tech!. You first remove fuser assy from machine. One green screw to loosen and then you figure the trick out to get it out. Then once its out remove cover 2 screws I believe. Remove the lamp gently, you can do this with out unscrewing anything. Then remove the little clip on end of heat roller, simple spread clip and replace gear. It takes a tech about 10 min.

SOURCE: Getting an H4 Error code on my Xerox XC1045

This will most likely clear it. If not then the heat rod in the fuser most likely went bad.
Performing a Fault Reset 14 will reset your copier and will help to clear error codes.

  1. Turn the power off.
  2. Locate the Clear Button, which is grey in color, in the upper right corner above the green Start Button.
  3. Locate the Auto Button the lower left corner of the Control Panel.
  4. Turn the power back on.
  5. Press the buttons in the following sequence, releasing each button after each time you press it: [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto]. Every light on the Control Panel should go out, and the error code should clear.
  6. Program the copier as if you were going to make 14 copies.
  7. Press the green [Start] button to store the reset code. The copier will return to the ready position.
  8. Run a test copy.
  9. repeat 1-7 more than once to be sure it has worked properly.
There was incorrect info in this I copied and pasted. I corrected it.

Fuser upper failure is the message i am getting on my xerox phaser 7300. can anyone help please

Hello, The fuser or fuser roller is what actually bonds or melt the toner on to your paper. There is probably some type of temperature sensor, that senses the temperature of the fuser. If its not hot enough or just plain dead, it will give out an alarm similar to what your getting. You probably need to replace the fuser unit. You have a lower fuser and an upper fuser. You might be able to get away with just replacing the upper roller. The roller has a heating element inside and that's what probably defective.
Hope this Helps
Thank You for your feedback

I have a Xerox Copier XC1045. Our copies are coming out with dark spot on the paper., I change the drum, but still have same problem, even big area has black spot

You may have a worn out heat roller in the fuser.
It is also likely you have a bad toner cartridge . If the spots are gritty then replace the toner cartridge and vacuum out the machine,

Fuser Error. Low Temperature

there is a small thermometer that contacts/sits very close to the metal heat roller on your fuser, chances are when removing the jam its been bent away from the roller, have a look and try and see if you can see it, not knowing this exact printer im not sure the exact position but it is usually in the middle of the roller coming from the top of the fuser housing, another thing to check is if your fuser is actually warming up atall, if you cant feel any heat then the fuser lamp that heats it up has gone bad

Xerox model # XC1040 flashes H4 when turned on will not make copies ? code

H4 is a fuser error code. it basically means that the fuser is heating up. from what i can see the fuser lamp alone will be about $60.00. that would be the best case scenario if the rest of the fuser parts are ok. the upper fuser roller is 135.00 and lower 144.00.

Copy stops halfway through 1st page

Yeah more than likely that gear has broken.
What I would suggest it google a business called " the parts drop".
Call and ask for Britt, he has the part. I believe it to be less than $20, and if he doesn't have instructions, let me know, I can tell you how to replace that. Its really easy. If you open the machine and look in back, just before the fuser, " the HOT area, You will most likely see the gear broken into 3 or 4 pieces. While your at it. inspect the condition of the rollers in the fuser, if any of them show wear replace them at the same time. There should be a cleaner roller, white, most likely black by now that would be a good idea to replace with the gear if the pink and aluminum roll are in good shape, that will extend the life of the more expensive heat and pressure rollers. Like I said if Britt doesn't have the instrutions, let me know. I will type them out for you.

I have a Xerox Workcenter M20i.

You need to replace the fuser. There is a heating coil in the fuser roller that opens. Replace the fuser and it will resolve the problem.

When photocopying, a copy is made however the text also appears faintly in the background. (Model no: Xerox WorkCentre XD120F)

That would be either a bad heat roll or pressure roll.
In the area where the copy exits, the hot fuser area, eithet the heat roller, TOP roll or pressure roller, Bottom red roller are worn.
Easiest thing would be to replace the fuser.
Contact this parts reseller.
