Question about Euro-Pro Shark Steam Mop - Gray/ Purple Vacuum

1 Answer

Have a Shark steamer. Tried the vinegar, tried the CLR, tried putting a piece of wire and a skewer into steam hole...no luck. The unit gets hot but no steam. Will try one more round of CLR and let it sit overnight. Other than all that I mentioned...have no idea what to do next. It's a great gadget if it worked!!

Having problem with steam not coming out to do floors

Hey, this is Jeremy with Crucial Vacuum,

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Shark Steam Vac. One solution you can try is to create a solution of approximately 50% water and 50% CLR (calcium, lime, and rust).

Put the solution into the water tank of your vacuum and let it sit for awhile. Over time your vacuum may have developed a build-up of calcium which is blocking the pores that release the steam. This solution should break-down the calcium and allow steam to flow out of the vacuum.

If you do not have CLR on-hand, an alternative found in most kitchens that can be used is vinegar. Again, make a solution of vinegar and water and allow it time to sit in the tank attached to the vacuum. Then try running the machine.

You can purchase replacement parts for your Shark direct from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

My Europro shark steam mop won't steam, light on but no steam.

Hard water deposits. I ran some white vinegar through mine, like a coffee maker, and it worked for a while, but clogged again. So I unplugged it, let it cool and turned it over in the bathtub and squirted a small amount of Lime-Away into the hole where the steam comes out. Let it soak for 5- 10 minutes and it is working like is is brand new.

Steam Tek mop doesnt steam anymore

We had a similar experience. I opened the head to look if the steam line was clogged. There was no sign of dirt or calcium build up, so I opened up the body. Found that one of the heater wires had come loose. The connector, which is crimped to the wire, was charred. Could be a potential fire hazard!

I notice that a similar product marketed under the Thane brand has been recalled for wiring issues.

We will try to return this mop for a refund.

My shark steam mop heats up but won't steam. help

Problem: mineral dleposits. Just fixed mine.... DO THIS OUTDOORS. Add 1/2 c CLR to the tank, let sit for an hour, turn on, allow to heat and pump. May have to refill with CLR and repeat. Be persistent, and eventually you'll blow out a wad of dissovled minerals followed, happily, by billows of steam. Again, do this outdoors and keep the mop pointed away from people, plants and things. (I aimed mine into a cardboard box.) Follow up with a couple of tanks of water and pump until empty to clean out any residual CLR and loosened deposits. (I continued to get some black precipitate through the first water cleaning.) I will add that I began this process first with white vinegar, then with Lime Away..no luck put perhaps I was not sufficiently persistent. Or perhaps it was the sequence of attempts. (Also, do not take off the mop head...the part to which you attach the pads...it's tough to get off, does not allow access to parts that need cleaning (thought it would, not not so), and practically impossible to get back on.)
Alternatively, call Shark...they'll offer to repair for $18 plus $10+/- shipping, or may offer you a new one at "preferred customer" rate of $39.95 plus shipping. Good luck, and please remember to try the CLR outside.
