Question about Mitsubishi WD-60735 Projection Television

1 Answer

The lamp went out in my TV. I replaced the lamp and it worked fine. I moved the TV and when I went to turn it on it wouldn't stay on. It will come on for about 10 seconds and then shut back off. The red light keeps blinking after it goes off. I have to unplug the TV or hit reset to get the red light to stop blinking. I would really appreciate some help as I'm sick of looking at a 60 inch paper weight. Of course this problem happens just a couple months outside of my warranty.

I ended up removing the lower rear panel to check the DMD fan. The fan didn't come on when I turned the TV on. I pushed the connector in and it was a little loose and that fixed my TV. A loose connection had me without my TV for 6 months because all the TV repairman in my area wanted $100 or more just to diagnose the problem and they were saying it would most likely run $400 or more to fix.

lamps going out are normal so don't worry. On this TV, if you replaced with an exact replacement then it's not the lamp. Something is not reattached properly or completely. Normally it pertains to ventilation or a lamp access panel being loose. Check those out and make sure everything is tight. if it still doesn't work then check for blown capacitors on the different boards. My Tv that is a samsung does this when the back panel is not secured properly. Ventilation and proper securing of panels are always important. BUT NORMAL!

Take a few deep breaths and check it all out step by step back tracking areas that you accessed. Sounds like something is definitely loose. Maybe ribbon cables loose, fans, screws, boards, etc. Something is loose in there. Let us know so it updates your solution if this info helps.

Hi Brent, Mitsubishi's have a problem with the power supply and the Light Engine which incorporates the Digital Module of which it has to be purchased as a complete assembly. I sincerely believe you should not put that kind of money into a dlp set. The cost of the light engine is in the area of $1100.00. Your last idea is the best one.

I would suggest it is a ballast problem. You can check supply of 5 volts to ballast's small 5 pin connector (trigger voltage) and about 300V-330V to large 2pin connector. If both voltages present at the start and lamp is working with in another TV - it is bad ballast.

Hello:

Make sure u replace the lamp cover as the safety switch need to be closed to make the set work. If new lamp did not repair your problem , then it may well be the Ballast Board, Sometimes call the Lamp Driver.

TV on/off

How long is your TV on before it turns off? Check the fans and make sure they are all working. The TV may be shutting off due to overheating if a fan quit working.

If you think the lamp is still good maybe try replacing the lamp ballast.
