If you have enough loose end on the wire you can make a splice and solder the point. Insulated it well with electrical tape. The alternate is to replace the thermistor which and more than likely be ordered by model number and serial number of your unit.

Our AC keeps cutting out. It runs for a few minutes then stops. have to switch off and restart. Any idea why? Have emptied water and cleaned filter recently

Look for:
  1. the ac needs air flow thru the indoor and outdoor radiators
  2. the outdoor radiator coil should get warm/hot and produce warm air.
  3. indoor radiator coil needs should get cold and produce cold air.
The ac needs the fan motor(s) working and compressor running and pumping. Compressor skinny copper line hot and thick line cold.

Climate control on a 98 Pontiac Bonneville

if the compressor suction line is getting cold and sweating and the line going out to condensor is hot - the compressor is working - the electric door to cut off heat is stuck or motor coupling could be broke - this unit under the dash can be hard to get to - i have installed a valve in heater hose to cut off hot water in summer on older cars - cheap fix - unless you want to take out dash

Got problem with fan/ac unit always blows hot air

How long have you had the A/C? It might be the time for a good cleaning. There are a variety of factors that may cause your A/C to not cool your house. With that said, here is a diagnostic article that provides the most probable causes of your A/C's failure to cool your house, and from there you can read it and then, step by step, rule out each possible cause listed in the article:

Of course, a low level of Freon/refrigerant may be the problem, but there may be other problem causes as well, as noted in the article---it may just be that debris is obstructing your AC as well; if it is in need of Freon, you'll need a licensed AC contractor to come out to recharge the AC system with Freon, as stores are prohibited from selling Freon to unlicensed AC people, as mandated by law, in an effort to cut down on the carbon pollutions of such a coolant. Read the article, and if the diagnostic steps found therein don't help to get your AC running correctly again, I'd surely get--if I were you--a local AC technician and take advantage of the text-ad link (found towards the end of the web page article) of the mentioned handy site for free four (4) quotes and "pick the brain"--seek the advice--of these technicians who offer you a free quote to discern what could be the problem so that you can later fix the AC problem on your own, or, alternatively, you can have the AC contractor do the fixing for you:

Get at least three (3) free estimates--that's the rule of thumb.
