Question about Olympus WS-100 Digital Voice Recorder

2 Answers

I recorded a 17-minute interview with my Olympus WS 100 and when I play the file it is white noise. My important interview is not heard, not even a bleep of real sound. As a journalist, I also record phone interviews with this device and have been using it for three years now. Could it be that it's time is up? I've just used it too much?

I tried recording again, placing it next to my mouth and testing. I'm not as concerned about future recordings as I am the 17-minute one I may have lost. Is there any way to recover this?

My Olympus Ws-100 recorded an important 17-minute-long interview that did not take. The recording sounds like nothing but white noise. I have done additional tests and the recordings do not come through without a microphone attachment. I am planning to purchase a new device, but that 17-minute interview was very important. Are there any methods that I can try to perhaps recover any possible audio? Thank you.

Hello

The problem is just a little hitch not necessarily that its time is over

If you record and you cant hear your recording.;

Erase unnecessary files on the recorder. The recording mode may not be working if there is not enough file space remaining to add new files.

Switch folders and attempt to record in another folder. The maximum storage capacity might have been reached within this individual folder.

Switch the unit to the voice mode. If the unit is placed on music mode, it will not record...

Whenever you want to record ensure you activate the mic sense function for enhanced recording

Press and hold the "OK" button for at least 1 second.

Use the "+"/"-" button to select the "Mic Sense" option. Press and hold the "OK" button to select this.

Select the "+"/"-" button to the setting "Conf." This is a higher sensitivity recording option than the "Dict" standard selection.

Hit the "OK" button to complete the "Conf" selection

Press "Stop" to exit from the menu.

Hi,

Have you tried to make one more recording?

If not, give it a shot. Sometimes, if the recording is done close to office machines or running computers, it could store white noise.

If even the new recording would have white noise, it is better to go with replacement as it more often confirms defective microphone. Repair would be expensive as compared to the cost of the product.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

Regarding recovering the file, that could only happen if there is anything stored, however lost due to corruption. However, in this case the audio file was never recorded, so unfortunately there is nothing you could retrieve.

I wish i could have a better solution.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

How to import Olympus WS 110 audio files to computer.

Audio files need the right codecs to play them. Windows media player generally needs these to be added. Download the K-Lyte CODEC pack from the Major Geeks website. Always use the advanced mode when installing them, as they do like to change your browser settings or change your browser completely if you do the normal way.

We had a similar problem (it wouldn't turn on), and it turned out that we hadn't taken off both layers of clear packaging from the batteries. It now works.
