How can I test my ignition coil pack on a 2002 Mercedes benz c240

put a spark plug in each socket you want to test and run a ground wire from the spark plug to the engine ground. then try starting the car to see it they spark. when I tested my 4 cylinder coil pack they were all together. I had 4 plugs sticking out and used an old stripped wire and wrapped around each base of the spark plug in series and then tied it to a ground point. worked great

Broken spark plug wire eater weedeater

If the wire runs all the way to the inside of the coil pack, then you will have to replace the whole coil unit.

91 chevy 4.3, put on new coil and icmodule but still no spark, what do i need to check

Hi there:

Refer to the wiring diagram, click here. First of all, you should have battery voltage at the pink wire to the coil with key on start or run. The pink wire coming from the ignition switch, not the pink wire from coil to distributor, although you may have voltage there as well. Second, the white wire for the tach you should be checking with a 12 volt test light while cranking. That should flicker if the primary circuit is ok.Quite possibly the other white wire may flicker also, according to the diagram.

Anyhow, how are you checking for spark and are you checking right at the coil? If so, swap a small spark plug wire for the coil wire and check again for spark at the end of the wire.

Make a test plug. You can make a test plug with a new spark plug and some wire, a mini hose clamp and an alligator clip. First open the spark plug gap to around 0.075" and strip both ends of a 16 gauge wire about 4 foot in length. Attach the mini hose clamp around the threads of the spark plug cause that is a ground and secure it with the mini hose clamp with the bare wire end in between to make a good connection. Next, take the other end of wire and secure to an alligator clip.

Now, you have a test plug. Remove any spark plug boot you want and insert your test plug onto the spark plug wire end you just pulled off and ground the alligator clip. Lay the spark plug in some shade somewhere under that hood and then crank the engine and look for spark. It should crackle with sound and should be blue but red is ok, orange is a little weak. If it can jump that 0.075" gap you should have no problem igniting an engine.
You can also use that to check coils on some vehicles.

Hope this helps.

My weedeater has no spark at all

If there is no spark then I would suggest checking out the plug wire for cracks or breaks If there is none present then the ignition coil could be finished Take it off take it into your small engines dealer and get him to test it.

No spark on sr230...got suggested new plug ngk...unit was hardly ever used.

The best test for an ignition coil is removing the wire(s) going to the kill switch at the coil. Most small engines will run with the kill circuit open & stop when you ground it. If you disconnect the kill wire & you have no spark, than it's a coil.. If you do have spark, check the switch & kill wire for a short

Hello Does anyone know the ohm readings out of

The woozy spark is generally associated with plug type/condition, the plug cap and the ability of the coil to provide it. You can go down a very expensive path testing and replacing electrical components. The HT lead exiting from the coil is totally sealed up and is not the problem in general. Coils usually breakdown in the internal windings to give wavering spark with different input/loads. Coils can be sourced from as little as $15 from a salvage yard or around $45 new off ebay. First though, get a new plug cap and a couple of clean plugs of different heat ranges and try different gaps. If no change then your coil is next. Components from here generally double/triple in price each step from Reg/Rectifier, CDI Unit, Stator Coils etc. Ohms readings will generally be viable then. The link below has many manuals free to download if you are needing any technical figures for resistance etc. Goodluck and cheers

Weed eater won't start. changed spark plug,

possibly on/off switch-has it gotten wet? Also check where wiring from on/off switch meets the wiring from the weedeater body.Check those connectors/crimps make sure theyre plugged in /right fit and not wet.Make sure youre ground wire is grounded/attatched/screwed to the machine.Ive had a weedeater get wet twice at the on/off switch and had to bring it in the A.C. overnight to really dry out.It worked.Hope this helps. If none of this does then its maybe the coil(semi-internal-no fun) or the fat wire carrying the spark from the plug to the body(semi-internal-no fun).Good luck!

I have a Troy-Bilt 31cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered that doesn't start

Coil bad or wire to coil bad. I tell everyone what Ill tell you, when it comes to small engines, troy bilt, poulan, weedeater brand all JUNK,JUNK JUNK! Theyre made cheap, not built to last, theyre throwaways. Carbs are made in china. If youre ever in walmart next time go back to the garden section and pick up a weedeater or poulan brand chainsaw or trimmer. Look at the package good and look at the factory life expactancy. Its not in months, not even days, but in hours. If I was you I would tell myself NO MORE! I would buy a dolmar or stihl, pay the extray, cause you wont be aggrevated in the long run. P.S. Dolmar offers a 100% coverage for ONE YEAR on all equipement.

My 2001 polaris sportsman 90 is having problems staying running. if you push the starter it will stay running for about 5 seconds then stops! we have tryed adjusting the carburetor and air fuel mixture...

Had the same problem with my 2001 sportsman 90. Weak spark, sometimes no spark, would only run for a few seconds, ect. I found a partially burnt ground wire coming off of the coil. the coil is just above the carb mounted on the frame. Mine was the small black wire on top of the coil and it fixed the five second stalling problem immediately.
