Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T1 Digital Camera

RE: The CCD has failed - this WAS covered by a recall, but has now lapsed and repair is chargable. I took my camera in to a Sony store a couple of years ago and showed them this problem and was not advised that there was a recall. I was told that it would cost a couple of hundred dollars to fix it, so I decided not to. Now I am told that the recall has expired. I feel cheated out of a mandatory repair job.

I just spoke with a Sony representative who confirmed that the recall has expired. He said it would cost me $172.00 to get my camera "up and running".

It's probably a loose connection between CCD and main board. It's a well know problem with these cameras or youre CCD is go to bad, if this is your cases, sorry but these are classic symptoms of a failed CCD imaging chip, and it's effectively irreparable.

Don't throw your digital camera away if it has a bad CCD and it is covered under this recall, get it repaired for free! The best part about having the manufacturer repair your camera under this recall is that they will inspect, test, calibrate and update the camera as well as replacing the CCD with an updated version that will not fail as the first one did. Hope helps.

This sounds like it might be again a defective CCD imager. Note that some repaired cameras have been known to fail again with the same problem. Even so, Sony should still fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following link for more info:

A little research shows me that Fuji has undergone an extensive repair recall for several Fuji models because of failed CCDs. My S20 Pro just lost it's ccd as well. For some reason it looks like the S20 was not covered in the free repair offer by Fuji. Has anyone else had a CCD problem with their S20
