Anthony thats the problem batteries seldom used will not be broken in correctly and will get weaker rather than stonger. charging a handful of times will not do it. MK batteries recommends that new batteries be charged nightly for 20 days to break them in. Sorry you will have to get new batteries. Now new batteries usually have a 6 month warranty and if its been less than that try getting them replaced via warranty through the provider that sold you the chair Hope this Helps

Charges but only holds a charge for about 1/2 hr running time. the manual i have says it has a external charger but mine is onboard. thanks ---- wayne

Wayne if you are getting a full charge and then only getting that little running time its time to replace the batteries. If Medicare paid for your chair then they will pay for most of the repair costs.. Contact the provider where you got your chair to ask about new batteries or you can get them yourself for about $200.00+ for both. You will need to get 2 U1 deep cycle batteries. Do not get unsealed or auto batteries for your chair get U1s Hope this helps

Will you don't say what chair you have and they can all be wired differently. Look under the shroud that covers your batteries and see if there isn't a wiring diagram there. If you let me know the brand ie: Pride Jazzy, Invacare M51 etc. I can give you the proper wiring for the batteries. Now you also didn't say if you charged the batteries after you installed them. Remember always charge before use. Just because they are new doesn't mean they are charged (in fact they could have sat on the shelf for a while). Make sure that they are no older than 4 months old even new batteries can be bad. Charge these puppies overnite. When you plug in the charger you should see a red and yellow light after charging overnite you should see a red and green light( indicating full charge) If when you plug the charger in you get a red and green light then something isn't wired correctly. Hope this helps

imwaltz Sorry buddy but if it sat that long the batteries are probably too low for the charger to pick up and charge. to bad you didn't just charge those batteries once a month while you were laid up. You will have to get new batteries. If Medicare paid for your chair they will pay for most of the repair costs. Contact Repair Xpress @ 1-877-581-3733 or Roadrunner Mobility @ 1-800-467-2668 these are 2 excellent service companies that will bill Medicare for repair and have a tech repair the chair for you. Hope this helps

To slow

Make sure your speed indicator is as high as it will go. Make sure your tires are fully inflated and that nothing is wrapped around them that may be slowing you down. Make sure your batteries are fully charged (8-10 hours). If all of this checks OK, make sure that your batteries will take a full charge. If the power chair has been sitting idle for a while the batteries may be damaged and not take a full charge which means you will not get full power.
Another problem may be the controller, if you got your power chair second hand. The last owner may have made the technician make changes to the controller to make it run slower overall if they could not control it. It can only be changed back by the technician.
Good luck!

Battery won't charge

Hi sounds like your batteries are faulty.I have seen "brand new" batteries that are faulty. Do you leave your machine on charge for days or weeks on end? Most chargers should only be put on overnight after use that day. Some chagers will reduce to a "float " charger after a few hours a full charge, these can be left on for weeks at a time without harming the batteries. Most of the 4 amp chargers are for overnight only as they do not reduce the charge voltage after full charge is reached.
If the new batteries did not help then you might a faulty connector on the battery or motor leads. I have removed the battery connectors from many machines as they can cause this type of problem.
Try asking the national agents for help, or get someone from a local social service group to help. Ask the advice from a different service company about the problem. Good luck. Neil.
