Question about Air Tools & Compressors

1 Answer

When turned on it runs for only a few minutes then shuts off, this is long before it has time to build up enough for proper use.

Well, one of two things may be happening, first is the shut off pressure is set too low, check the switch with a Volt/Ohm meter. The 2nd is motor overheating, but this is less likely based on your description of short time running....

My fan will not shut off when I shut the engine off

How long does it run? some cars will run the fan for a few minutes to ensure that too much heat does not build up under the hood. Wait for 5 minutes and see if it is still running when the engine is off. If it is you may have a bad temperature sensor. Does the engine temperature gauge work properly?

The fuel pump stay runnning for awhile before the car starts

Don't really understand your question but the fuel pump is suppose to run when you turn the key on. Runs for a few seconds to build to the proper pressure and then shuts off until the pressure is needed again. In most cars it will cycle every time you turn on the ignition switch.

Freezer keeps running

If the machine is running all the time a few things could be happening, The defrost timer could be bad, but if that is the case then you should see a build up of ice forming on the wall that covers the evaporator coils. Another situation is that your machine is low on freon and not reaching a temperature cold enough for the temperature control to shut the machine off. Third and last the temperature control itself could be bad and thinks the machine isn't cold enough. in that situation you would notice ice build up as well. Hopefully this helps.

The dryer begins to heat runs a few minutes then cuts off

First, wet clothes are electrically conductive. With electronic sensing dryers as the wet clothes tumble, they touch the two metal bars in the drum.8e70df0.jpg There is a capacitor on the control that is trying to build up a charge, but when wet clothes create a short from one bar to the other, this charge is released to the frame of the dryer, therefore discharging the capacitor. As long as the capacitor charge is low, the control knows the clothes are wet. As the clothes become dryer, they short the bars fewer and fewer times. Once the capacitor charge builds to a certain level, the control knows the clothes are mostly dry, and it advances the program to the final timed portion, usually less than 20 minutes, some of which is a cool down portion to reduce wrinkling. If your dryer is shutting off after only 10 minutes, that means the control capacitor is never getting discharged. This can be due to a few different reasons: 1. Sensing bar wire is disconnected or broken; 2. Load is not large enough (remember the bars must be contacted repeatedly); 3. Bars are "coated" by fabric softener build up and need to be cleaned with Windex or 409. 4. Defective control board. 5. Airflow is restricted and moisture can't escape the drum. 6. Corrosion built-up on sensing board connection.(yank out the board and clean the contacts that sometimes is all it takes on some models) Address the airflow condition and load size. Clean the sensor bars and make sure the wires are all connected securely.

The unit will turn on and run fine for a few minutes then shut off. It won't immediately turn back on, almost as if it hans to cool back down first. Any ideas i have a lennox furnace

The ignitor will light, the blower will start up and run for a few minutes and then the system will shut down, and the blower will continue to run and cool down. The ignitor is not working properly, the ignitor has carbon build-up and need to be removed, cleaned all the black carbon from the ignitor with a little piece of sand paper and replaced, turn the heat back on and this should correct the problem.

My unit will not turn on when i start my car

Change battery, or check charge wire if hard wired. i would think your battery needs complete change. The reason for delay is usually the fact that it has reached the end of its life and takes some time to build enough charge to drive the display. The power pull is greater than the ability to store, so that is why it shuts down
