You unplug the machine, turn off water and bleed off pressure, open the wahsing machine case, disconnect water hoses and electrical connections to the valve, and then unscrew the valve's mounting screws.

I have an Estate washer model #Etw4400wq0 and the cold water is not coming on. I've checked the filter and it wasn't clogged. Any suggestions?

It depends on how deep you want to go with troubleshooting. The inlet valves are electrically controlled and it could be the valve that failed or the control board. Could be a loose connection. Whirlpool WPW10144820 Water Inlet Valve Assembly - AppliancePartsPros.com

Whirlpool estate washer

Check the water inlet valve (the part the hoses connect to) to see if it's letting water in while the machine is off.

Rinse cycle does not work. everything else does

Verify water flow to BOTH hot and cold inlet valves. Dirt can plug screens and Dad sometimes turns off water, trying to save $$. BOTH inlet valves need water flow.

My washer will not stop filling with water and overflows

Turn the washer on and let the water run, while the water is running unplug the power cord if the water stops the inlet valve is ok but if still running the valve is bad and need to be replace if the pump is good you need to test the water level switch, if faulty need to replace.
good luck

Cold water trickles in for all cycles.

you probably have a clogged hose or a bad water inlet valve

No cold water. I have hot, but not cold.

Turu off the cold water to the m/c, and hold hose into a bucket or something similar, turn water back on again, and see if you have a supply, if water there, then check the filter i the valve it it has one, and clean if req'd, reconnect hose and try again, if still no cold fill ,then the inlet valve is probably faulty, you will need to replace same.

Cold water dosn't come out

Close your faucet valve on wall & unscrew your hoses to check screens on hoses & machine. Clean out well. See that the water pressure is good. Refit, check for leaks. If this is not the problem change your inlet valve, it is easily done.
