Question about Philips 27PT8302 27" TV

1 Answer

CVI connection I have connected the CVI (RGB) leads from a new 'set top box' to my Philips 27PT8302 27" TV , but when I toggle to CVI the picture is disrupted (signal appears to be present but it is horizontal lines only and no sound). I can get standard definition via the other inputs, and everything seems to work fine, but not HDTV via the CVI inputs. A friend suggested that I need to switch my TV via a menu (somewhere on the remote) to CVI, but I cannot find this anywhere. I have tried the AV/Ch button but same thing happens. Can you please help me, my email is phil.emery@deakinprime.com Thank you for considering my request. Regards, Phil

    Thanks tvtek.

You are right - although my set top box doesn't go as low as 480P, so I could even get enhanced definition. I went as low as stb could go to 520p which was almost giving a picture, while 720p and 1080i were just a mess so you are right on the money. I had moved house recently and misplaced my TV manual in the process which didn't help (deep in my storage somewhere along with many other things yet to be discovered). So it will have to be standard definition for the moment which is still an improvement over what I had though and I can stop puzzling. Thanks again.

    Regards,

    Phil

On a Philips TV the only way I know to switch to any of the inputs is by scanning using channel up or down. This model is capabable of 480P input only at the CVI/Component input. This is not a HD television. It is only a EDTV (enhanced definition) if you try and input anything iver 480P IE: 720p or 1080i, the double image and/or lines is what you will get.

Is it analog or digital?

If it is a standard CRT TV unit it will be analogue only. If you want it to display a picture from a digital signal you will need to buy and connect a digital set top box to the TV. The set top box then picks up the digital channels through the antenna and displays the picture on the TV set. You will need the basic connections on the back of the TV to be able to connect a set top box and many older TVs do not have them..

Can 12-yr old Akai CT-1411 TV be connected to set-top box or dishtv?

Its quite possible if your set top box has an RF out cable or video leads. Check that you have those inputs on your TV and connect them to your set top box.

How do i change the input

The 27" TV uses the same instructions as the 20", and I found the manual for you at the link below. Answering your question directly, here is the section of the instructions about changing input:
-----
Changing the TV's Input Normally, your TV displays the signal coming through the antenna terminal. However, if you've connected another component to your TV(such as a VCR & DVD) using the Video/Audio input, you will want to be able to view the signal from the component. To do this, you will need to switch from the ' TV ' input to the 'AV1-AV3, CVI' Input, as follows. 1 With the TV on, press the MENU button twice, then " Set-Up " menu will appear. 2 Use the WCHV buttons to select " Input ". 3 Press the CVOLB buttons to change the input source from ' TV ' to 'AV1, AV2, AV3, CVI'. 4 Wait 20 seconds, or press DISPLAY button or MENU button to return to normal TV viewing. * CVI means the Component Video Input (Y/ PB/ PR) from the DVD player etc.* Users can also select these input modes with the TV/AV button or the INPUT button on theremote controller. * On the AV1 mode , if you connect the S-VHS jack to your TV, "AV1" is changed to "S-VIDEO".

Philips 30PW850H 30" TV screen is completely

hi,
normally color crt tvs have three guns such as red green and blue. when the voltage at the cathode any of these guns go to zero that color will lead in the screen.

in ur case the green cathode voltage is low. that's why the is green on all over the screen.
if it suddenly came then there is a possibility of dry soldering in the pcb behind the picture tubes neck. we called it as base board. which consist of three transistor or one ic for cotrolling cathode voltage of the guns .

if u have a soldering iron the open ur tv and try to re-solder components in the base board. mainly the component with three leg ( if transistor). if there is ic it will have more than 6 legs . if you can try to re-solder all the points. Be care-full that dot make short circuit when soldering. after care full soldering power on the tv and watch the scree. you problem Will solved.

if u need any further assistance from me, feel free to contact me through fixya.
ok

Can't re patch tv with set top box to watch tv

Hi.

Ok here goes.

1) Take airial lead from the wall socket in to antenna in on freeview box.

2) connect short usually black airial type lead in to antenna out socket on freeview. plug the other end of this lead in to aerial in on vcr.

3) connect the other end of this aerial type lead to airial plug on the back of tv.

4) now if you have 2 or more scart sockets on the back of tv set plug in the scarts in this order.
Freeview box scart with tv on it connect to scart 1 on tv set.
Freeview box vcr scart connect to vcr in scart socket on vcr.
Vcr scart marked tv plug scart from here to scart 2 on tv
If you have 3 scart sockets on tv you can connect dvd using scart to scart socket 3 on tv.

If Tv has only 1 scart the aerial leads will stay the same as I have stated,
Freeview must go to scart socket on tv set.
leave second scart from freeview to vcr plugged in so you can record freeview by putting vcr to line 1 or AV 1.
you will need to put tv on channel (0) & tune this channel to the video play a tape that you recognise then go to tv tuning & tune tv untill you see video playing then store this on channel (0).
DO NOT USE AUTO TUNING IT WILL PUT CHANNELS IN THE WRONG ORDER JUST USE MANUAL TUNING.

Now to view Dvd you will either need to purchase A scart switch box. Or have keep unpluging freeview scart from tv so you can plug in dvd .

If your tv has red yellow white phono sockets you can plug dvd in to these, you may need to purchase phono leads.

Hope this helps.

DVD VHS recorder

It sounds like your cables are connceted ok, but what you neede to do is to be able the switch from one video mode to the other so lets go through the cable and vrc conncetions again just to make sure. From your cable set top box connect your component video (RGB) video out to your TV (RGB) video in via the (RGB)cables. From your VCR connect your composite video (yellow) out to your TV composite video in withe the composite video (yellow) cable. From your VCR (Left & Right audio out)connect your left and right audio connections (White and Red) to the Audio in of the TV (Left and Right). Whith this setup you should be able to use the TV to switch between the two A/V inputs using the remote control.
