Question about Televison & Video

Open Question

Hi, I have a Mitsubishi Medallion HD 1080. Periodically, the format will change to the stretch setting. The remote will not immediately work to change it back. I have to wait a few minutes before the remote will work. I can then switch it back to standard and it is fine for sometimes weeks and sometimes a day. I am afraid my set is going to stop working at some point and I am hoping to solve the problem first. Thanks in advance for your help.

Try changing the settings on the Xbox under display to 1080i. If it is 1080 p, or 720p, the image will look funny so make sure it is at 1080i.

SOURCE: hdmi inputs stopped working

It sound like the cable box or the Blue ray player is set to high - such as 1080P when the set is only rated at 720 - try scaling the output down and see if that helps

SOURCE: Picture Mode reverts always to Dynamic after several minutes

The set was a store demo, and the options were set so they could not be adjusted. On instruction from Samsung I pressed MENU and VOLUME buttons on the side of the set and hold for 7 seconds The display reverts to Standard from Dynamic. The Remote Options button showed Store Demo, but now shows Standard. All memory functions seem to function now. Thanks for your help.

SOURCE: Can't loate bool;et for Mitsubishi HD 1080 Series Medallion

it is usually in the Audio settings, sometimes by the CC settings, if you go to the TV and enter th menu from the set, go thru one at a time until you find the spot to turn it off, it is under options or Menu on the remote also, there maybe an SAP Option on the remote itself, but you may have to press another key first like a "Function: Key.
I hope this helps some, if so please give me a good (fixya) rating. Thanks and have a Blessed Day

My mitsubishi medallion hd 1080 doesn't show content from component cable

Some of the older Mitsubishi with HD 1080 have only one component input for HD---it is marked on rear as DTV----also a model number may allow me to give another suggestion--Some of these sets (ws, wt, vs models) will on occasion lock out or disable the input/s.

Depending on model number most also have 3 hidden menus---one is the option menu----it allows with the Mitsubishi remote via a 4 digit number (by model number) to enter there and do a hard reset of the set----sets every setting back to factory original---seen it "cure" all kinds of odd problems from missing rear inputs, no sound, odd video issues---you name it.

Get me the model number and I will see if can find the code for yours--you can also try hooking first direct a 1080 blue ray or Dvd if you want to see if the input is active or not first.

I have a mitsubishi medallion and I had digital cable hooked up and the tv is set on 1080i and i can't use the format button to change the screen so I can see everything. Can I switch it off of 1080 so I...

Hi
Check for a button on the remote called Format or Aspect, this should change screen sizes for you. Also if you are using a cable box check its remote for the same buttons it also has format or aspect on it which will change screen ratio. If you have a HD cable box then more then likely the cable boxs remote is the one causing you this headace. You may be in zoom mode check you user manual for the TV on picture formats.

It say 480 stretch on the screen how do I turn it to 1080 for my Hd tv

Make it sure that you have a 1080 signal from your source(eg. HD receiver, bluray player etc.). Try pressing format button on the remote until you get full picture . Or try changing the format or aspect ration in your satellite or cable box.

How do I reset big screen tv to 1080 on remote

You don't.
It should automatically switch to 1080 when and only when there is a HD signal present. Otherwise it will be in 480 and you will need to use the format button on the remote to change the picture size. If it does not switch to 1080 and you know for sure you have a true HD signal present, there is a problem with the unit.
Hope this helps,

HD setup, 480 to 1080 not working.

I had this same problem, got my HD installed yesterday w/ Direct TV, have had this TV since '02. The fact that is wasn't working, and Google, led me to your post in search of answers. I even went to a local retailer that sells the Mitsubishi TV's and they were as helpful as if I had gone to a drug store seeking the answer. So, between browsing other posts, and then going to the manual (who'd of thunk) I got my, and your, answer. You need to do the following, nothing magic: 1)Connect the component video output of the Direct TV HD Receiver to the DTV inputs on your TV. The COMP 1/2 inputs are NOT 1080 compatible, only the DTV input. As another poster said, you must use component video cables, not the old red/yellow/white cables. you can lose too much signal quality w/ the old R/Y/W cables and your TV still won't recognize the 1080. 2)Set your receiver to a HD Channel, which are in the 70's. 3)Use the format selection on your remote and select until you get the 1080i Standard (or whatever your preference is) format. 4)Enjoy Bottom line is the COMP inputs are not HD. Page 64 of the manual (at least the one i downloaded from mitsubishi-tv.com) is what gave me the final piece of the picture. Good Luck!
