Question about Cell Phones

I get a no sim message even though sim card is installed. only happened recently. this is not a new sim, i have been using this optus sim card for the last 4 years.

Sim cards do fail sometimes , try a new sim card.
try your sim in another phone .
another possibility is dirt in the charging point / data cable connection.

Hi there Glen,

Here are few suggestions:

1. If this is a Prepaid sim, make sure your wife has enough load on the sim. Sometimes, even if you still have a few loads left, these networks does not process the text message especially for roaming sims. So let your wife load a new prepaid card.

2. Make sure your wife's phone is configured with the correct SMS Message Center. Ask Optus about it and have your wife double check on her phone's Message center setting.

3. If this is a postpaid, and that your phone can still call you from India to Australia, and that the suggestion in no. 2 was checked, then by all means, the problem is with Optus, considering that SMS sending was working days ago with your wife.

I have bought an optus sim card and every incoming phonecall is shown as withheld. also when i call people it shows up as wittheld. when i send a text message it shows my number though


HI smokinsi i'm not sure which rim you have. But it souds like you have to reboot the phone by taking the battery out and putting it back in. Also you may need to use the desk top manager so that the phone is configure properly. I not sure what your looking to do Al rim phones with the exception of a few are global ready. Also not every dim card is going to work with rim products. You can go on the carrier'site and activate the sim card. The sim card sounds like it idn't configure for the phone.

This message may be displayed in the following situations:

  • The SIM card is out of alignment. If the phone has recently been dropped, bumped, or opened, the SIM card may need adjusting. Follow the SIM card installation instructions in your user guide.
  • The PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code is entered incorrectly multiple times. This can inactivate the SIM card. If inactivation appears to be permanent, contact your operator or service provider for a new SIM card.
  • You have recently changed service providers. In this case, either your SIM card or your phone may be configured for your previous operator and may require reconfiguring. It may also be that your phone is configured so that it cannot be used with a SIM card from a different operator or service provider. Please contact your current operator or service provider for assistance.

If none of the situations above apply and you continue to receive this error message, your SIM card may be damaged. Please contact your operator or service provider. Or alternately, contact your local Nokia Care Point for inspection.

THe webslider is a boost phone and the company of optus makes it, even though optus owns part of virgin the sim card will no work. Only boost sim cards and also optus sim cards will work

PUT THE WRONG CODE IN MY PHONE FOR A GAME, NOW ITS BLOCKED


Few people use PIN locking system to lock their phone to avoid un-authorised access. Though this is a good option, it pisses you off sometime. Three wrong entry of PIN code will result in SIM blocking. Once SIM gets blocked, phone starts asking PUK code to enter. If you again enter wrong code for three times, SIM gets completely blocked. You have to walk into your service provider outlet to get a replacement SIM card.
PUK code is a SIM specific code assigned by your service provider. No way you can guess & enter it. So, when it asks for the PUK code, don’t do anything, get the PUK code from your service provider. You may call to customer care using any other mobile phone which uses the same service provider. They will ask some details about you to make sure you are the owner of the SIM card. Questions might include your billing address, email ID, numbers you recently called or messaged etc. They might even ask you number printed on the SIM card, so be prepared with all details before calling them. Once you get the PUK code, enter it into the phone & your phone will return to normal.

press the phone button (green) and go to option. go to smart dialing and check the country code.

change it to unknown instead any specific country code.

if that doesnt help.... Check the vendor ID on ur phone to ensure it matches optus.. (even though phones cal be locked, they are technically still locked by design to the network they were made with.. but you can still use other sims in them)

Once you download the software from the optus website, double click it to install it. You should now see it listed in desktop manager under Help>About>Device software Tab..

if u dont... its time to call optus....

Unlock 6288 from optus australia


To unlock the handset,follow these steps
1 - Switch ON your phone without a SIM Card
2 - enter #PW+XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX+1# (XXX's = the code we sent you)

The letter P will appear after quickly pressing the star button ( * ) 3 times
The letter W will appear after quickly pressing the star button ( * ) 4 times
The letter + will appear after quickly pressing the star button ( * ) 2 times

3 - The phone should show the message "SIM Restriction Off" or a similar message to confirm that is it unlocked!
