Try going to the network properties through the control panel, then right-click your wireless connection and click Enable. If it is enabled already, right-click it and click Connect.

Turning on wireless

Maybe you don't have your wireless turned on. Look onboth sides and in front for the Wireless Switch and turn it on.

Also once the wireless switch is turned on there are keystrokes that can togglethe wireless on or off. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN functionkey located at the lower left of the keyboard, then hit the correct F1 thru F12key that toggles the wireless. The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit willhave the wireless signal icon )))) on it. Or it might have the icon of a towerwith the wireless signal icon )))). Normally the screen will displayWireless On or Wireless Off when you toggle the wireless.
On some laptops there will be a button just above the keyboard or on the side or in front of the laptop..

Some laptops don't have wireless buttons. You toggle it by the keystrokes described above. If there is a wireless button it will be located above the keyboard, on the sides or in front of the laptop.
According to your manual, the wireless switch is on the side of the laptop. See page 15 of the manual. I have provided a link below for the manual.

Lost wireless capability

Why is there no lan? Did you somehow turn the wireless off? Are other computers able to connect to the wireless if so that means your wireless is probably off.

Some laptops will have a button to push that toggles the wireless. it might be located on either side or front or just above the keyboard.

If no other computers are able to connect then go to the wireless router and unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back up. If you have a modem and a router, you only want to unplug the wireless router.

I can't find the wireless switch on dell latitude e5500

Go to the start menu and click where it says run or type in right above the start button in the white field and type ncpa.cpl then push enter. Where it says wireless network, right click on it then click enable. If needed, right click again and view wireless networks or Connect/Disconnect then connect to the wireless network. Also there could be a tiny switch on the right side of the computer where you turn on the computer, there might be a button to click to turn it blue. Hope this helps

Wlan is disconnected. How do I get it conected please. Thank you Julie

If it is showing that it is "Disconnected" that simply means you are not connected to a wireless network. To connect to a wireless network simply double click on the wireless icon by the clock (bottom right side, looks like a computer monitor with waves) and select the wireless network you wish to connect to.
