Bought a FZ18 at the weekend and took shots of a family barbeque and at a basketball match. Obviously keen to see the results I installed the supplied software and then connected the camera to the PC (Operating system Vista). The documentation with the CD states that for OS other than Windows 98/98SE, installation of USB Driver is not required but up came the message that a suitable driver was being sought. After this was completed it suggested that the makers site should be contacted for help. The Panasonic site only provided a download for Windows 95. Still waiting on Panasonic for help.

Removed the 4GB memory card and placed it in the PC integral card reader. No recognition of anything on the card. Connected the memory card to an external card reader with USB connection to the PC but again no success

Initial euphoria with camera now wearing a bit thin

    Hello,
Needless to say I am having the same problem with my sister's camera, FZ18, that is, I cannot download the photos from the memory card. The card reader is fine.
So has anyone found a solution? Picasa, as suggested, was no help unless I was using it correctly. Could someone please post a tried and tested procedure.
    Many Thanks
    TJ

Have you tried Picasa? Free from Google. Does your PC see it as a drive? Are there proprietary drivers for the camera? Try using a USB hub instead of the USB ports on the PC.

Lost software disc for lumix dmc fz 18

You don't really need it in order to use your camera.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

Despite what I said first... There are plenty of photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software".

I am missing a large group of photos on my SD memory card but the photos that are on the card BEFORE and AFTER the missing group of photos are numbered consecutively with no gap in the numbering sequence....

Hi Jame23a,

A memory card is structured like a hard drive. It has folders and they have sub-folders.

Many cameras automatically separate pictures that were taken at different settings (image size, resolution, motion) into their own sub-folders.

When accessing them from a computer, the separation is easy to see. On the camera, not so much.

There is an option in viewing to select the images. The sub-folders that separate your pix will be grouped in with the rest of the pix on the primary storage folder. Select that.

Best regards
Mike

Panasonic DMC-FZ18. Unable to download pictures to Camera and Scanner Wizard -

It would appear that DMC-FZ18 cannot reliably communicate with Windows XP. However if SD card is removed from camera and connected directly to computer there is no problem.

Panasonic DMC FZ18 2gb digital camera: consistently crashes when downloading images to PC (Windows XP): e.g. will detect 40 images for download, but will only download the first 10. Switching the camera...

try using and SD card reader instead of the software that came with it. then you know if it is a software issue or a problem with how your camera saves the photos.
It's also quicker using an SD card reader and drag/drop - copy/paste etc.
