System unit or power supply?

The computer power supply may have failed. Do you get the "post beep"?

If not- remove the BIOS battery, move the jumper to "Clear BIOS" . Insert BIOS battery, and try to boot. Put jumper back to normal position and try boot again. If you do not get the post beep, swap power supply for a known good one, and try boot again. If it still does not boot and give you a post beep, look to see if there is a removable BIOS chip- pop it out and put it back, this will clean the terminals. Go through and reset BIOS, as above, and try boot. If the system is functional, it should now boot up, but prompt for you to run the setup program.

If it does not boot, the problem is relating to motherboard/processor.

Do you know if this PS has a variable speed fan? The fan seem to be running at a consistantly slower than what seems appropriate speed and my computer randomly suts off or restarts.

you might have a faulty PSU power supply unit if the units fan is intermittent and your computer restarts at any time you could try plowing all the dust from it using a high pressure air blower from a compressor make absolutely sure there is no moisture in the airlines you will have to open up your computer to blow the dust from your psu and blow the dust from inside to outside through the back of psu while you are inside your computer blow all dust from your computer
if you have any problems with this post a reply
hope this helps

When i try to play games i get a message saying acceleration is disabled or not supported by my video card driver. my pc is a L&C computer co, windows 7 64 bit operating system withi gb ram standard...

Check the minimum and the maximum specs of your computer, also do check if the game needs some programs that you have to download first, some games need java and some needs flash, this are fatal components that will keep you from playing if you dont have so better yet check the specs carefully and update this post so i can help you.

Thank you.

The ac adapter is not working for my gateway laptop any ideas?

is the green/red light lit? If you have a multimeter check the plug end to see if there is voltage flowing.

Other than that you can purchase a new power pack online through ebay or the Gateway site online.

cost about $45-50

Antec neo HE550 with Asus P5W-DH. PC does not start anymore...

you do not have bad powersupplie.the problem is most likely video related or just as simple as,taking out the batterie and removing the power cord for a few seconds.count to 15 slowly.this will reset your computers may need to reset some of your settings.if you need more help just contact me. .i usually check emails every 1-2 days.

If this dosnt work your video card may be bad.depending on what you would need i might have one.

Gateway 500x Power Problem

First Thing I would suggest doing is to have an Electrician come and check out the Circuit(s) in your housr that were blowing fuses. As this is likely due to power surges and/or short circuits, and thats likely to be a fire hazzard. Not to mention that it could just as easily damage any repairs you make to your PC.

After you know your electrical lines are OK then we can start on your PC.
There are several components in your PC that are easily damaged by power surges. I will list them in order of their likelyhood to have been damaged, any one or even all of them MAY have been damaged.

Power Supply Unit
CPU (Processor)
Video Card
Ram modules

You could try replacing them one at a time Until you finally get the right ones replaced, but it might be more cost effective to take it to a certified repair facility for Gateway (Best Buy, and Circuit City are both good choices in the US)

I would have them give you an estimate before they do any repairs because if many or ALL of these components were damaged, it might be cheaper to buy a new PC.

Hope this helps
