How do I replace a broken ice full guide?

The ice maker is easy to remove once you get the drawer off the slides. There are two plastic clips located near the back of the drawer that attach it to the slides. Pop those out and lift the drawer out. Pull off the plastic ice maker cover to expose the mounting screws. Remove the two screws holding the assembly to the top of the freezer, then slide the ice maker forward about 1/2 inch. It will drop down a few inches, allowing you to unplug the wiring connector and remove it as a unit. The ice full guide is then easily removed.

How do I remove the ice maker from the refrigerator?

Hello there,
To be able to remove the ice maker from the refrigerator, please follow the steps below:
  1. Unplug the refrigerator ffrom the power outlet,
  2. Open the door and unscrew the screws that mount the ice maker, there are basically 2 screws, for some model, there is a screw under the mounting that is holding the ice maker in place, but make sure you do not loosen the screws completely,
  3. Lift the ice maker up from the screws mounting it and pull it out from the rear of the refrigertor,
  4. You will have to squeeze the tab on the wire connector in order to remove it from the refrigerator wire harness.

Icemaker not working

In order to keep your refrigerator's ice maker working properly, there are some components that will require routine maintenance and inspection. Some of the most common problems that can occur with your ice maker are the ice maker not making any ice, making too much ice and not shutting off, the ice tasting bad, ice cubes too small or discolored and ice cubes not ejecting from the ice maker. Checking your ice maker for potential problems on a regular basis will keep it operating efficiently.

1.Inspect the water supply line for any signs of cracking or crimps in the line. A pinched water supply line can keep the water from getting to the ice maker, resulting in no ice or smaller than desired ice cubes. Check to verify that the water supply valve is open enough to provide an adequate supply of water to the ice maker.

2. Flush out the water supply lines if you are noticing a bad taste in the ice cubes. This can be done by disconnecting the lines and running hot water through them. Turn on the hot water at the kitchen sink and place one end of the water supply line near the tap, holding it in place to allow hot water to run through it. Place the other end of the supply line in the sink to allow the water to drain through.

3 Reattach the water supply lines to the water supply and refrigerator. Repeat step 2 for the water inlet hose which runs from the inlet valve to the ice maker. If the water supply lines are old or discolored, consider replacing them with new water supply lines.

4 Check the temperature in your freezer to verify that it is getting cold enough. The freezer's temperature should be at 5 degrees and can be set with a control dial, normally located in the refrigerator compartment of your appliance. To test the freezer's temperature, place a cup of cooking oil in the freezer with a cooking thermometer sitting in the cooking oil. Allow the oil to sit in the freezer for 2 hours and then check the temperature.

5 Check the ice maker's shutoff arm to verify that it is operating properly. To work normally, the shutoff arm should be in the lowered position. Inspect the arm for anything blocking it or preventing the arm from moving freely. Lift the arm up to see if the unit shuts off in the up position.

6 Unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet and remove the faceplate of the ice maker's shutoff switch with a screwdriver, located on the ice maker. Remove the entire ice maker unit from the freezer by undoing the screws that are holding it in place. Unplug the ice maker from the freezer and take it out of the freezer to work on.

7 Remove the mounting plate on the top of the ice maker by unscrewing the screws and lifting it off the unit. Locate the shutoff switch, which has three electrical wires attached to it. The shutoff switch is located directly under the shutoff arm of the ice maker. Pull the electrical wires off of the shutoff switch with needle-nose pliers and label them so you know how to put them back correctly.

8 Inspect the electrical terminals for any rust or corrosion. Use an electrical testing meter to verify that the shutoff switch is working properly. You should get a reading of 0 or infinity on the meter. If the shutoff switch is not giving a reading, replace it with a new switch and reattach the electrical wires to the switch.

9 Place the mounting plate back over the ice maker and attach it with screws, then reattach the entire ice maker unit to the freezer. Plug the ice maker wiring back into the freezer and put the face plate back over the front of the ice maker.

10 Plug the refrigerator back into the electrical outlet and allow the refrigerator to run for a couple hours. Inspect the ice maker to verify that it is working properly.

Hope this tips would help you.
Good day! : )

How do I replace the defrost heater on a Maytag MBB2256GES refrigerator? The part is 67001794. I'd appreciate step-by-step instructions and tools needed. thanks!

1) Unplug the refrigerator. 2) Empty the contents of the freezer. 3) Loosen / remove as required mounting screws securing the ice maker. 4) Unplug the ice maker's wiring harness from the back of the freezer. 5) Remove the screws along the edge of the freezer compartment back plate. 6) Remove the back plate.

You should now see an ice or frost clogged coil and fin assembly, a heater clipped to the fins and a sensor attached to a portion of the aluminum cooling tube (these last two items will be visible only after defrosting). The last item - the "sensor" is really called a "defrost terminator". It is a thermally operated device - much like a thermostat. It is open or off at around 50 degrees and higher and closed or on below about 50 degrees. Defrost as needed, but do not do it by chipping away at the ice! Damage to the coil will be very costly to repair - better to use a blow dryer to quicken the process rather than tools and sharp objects for chipping.

Disconnect and remove the heater. Check the heater with an ohm meter to be sure it is faulty. Expect about 25 ohms resistance. If it is much more above this value it is suspect and should be replaced. The heater typically is not a high failure item, but they do fail. The defrost terminator or defrost timer assembly is more likely to the culprit.

Tools needed: small sockets or nut drivers, common straight & phillips screw drivers, maybe wire cutter / crimper, maybe an insulated **** splice for the size wire to be cut or other suitable wire connector.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Next look on the lower left side of where the ice bucket was, you will see a slot, insert a flat screwdriver into the slot tilt the screwdriver up, this will push down on a tab inside the slot and the cover will come loose.

Remove the cover and unplug the wire harness to the ice maker

Release the locking lever on the side and the ice maker assembly will slide out.

Maytag ice2o won't make ice

theharrisont,  You state that...." ice maker stopped working after it flooded our kitchen floor."  The water works because the water fountain dispenser uses a separate part of the Water Valve. The ice maker portion of the water valve is defected and the entire Water Valve Assembly will have to be replaced.  Your problem is the dual Water Valve Assembly which is located on the rear bottom area of the refrigerator (follow the water inlet line from the wall to the refrigerator...the water inlet line connects to the Water Valve Assembly).  The significant info which you provided was that the ice maker flooded the kitchen which indicates the Water Valve Assembly is defected. Failure to replace the Water Valve Assembly will result in the same problem of flooding at some later date.  Replacing the dual Water Valve Assembly is just one step of several steps necessary to correct the problem.  You will also have to temporarily remove the ice maker from the freezer (usually a couple of screws hold it to the wall and a quick disconnect electrical plug) and put it in the sink and run warm water over to remove any ice.  Before you reinstall the ice maker you must check the Water Fill Tube that dumps the water into the ice maker.  Because you said that the ice maker flooded the kitchen, then the Water Fill Tube is probably filled solid with ice which must be removed.  A hair dryer is a quick way to achieve this.  Blow hot air directly into the end of the Water Fill Tube which dumps the water into the ice maker.  Note:  Use a long screw driver to insert into the Water Fill Tube to break loose any ice and continue to use the hair dryer to help to remove any ice. This should correct your problem

Frigidaire side-by-side model # FRS26H5ASB4 making humming or buzzing noise

I had the same problem. I found the buzzing noise was caused by ice build up around the fan motor inside the freezer. I believe water must have leaked down around the fan during a defrost cycle. I removed the ice maker, the ice cube bin and ice dispenser auger motor. It sounds complicated, but it isn't too bad. The ice maker and auger are connected with quick connect plugs. So just unplug, remove the screws and remove them from the freezer. You will need to remove several other screws as well, I believe 11 in total as well as the top freezer rack. This will give you access to the white aluminum panel that runs from the top of the freezer to about halfway down the back of the freezer. After you remove the aluminum panel you will see the fan about half way down the freezer. I found a lot of ice around my fan. The fan blades were hitting the ice causing the buzz. Remove the ice and the buzzing is gone. It took me an hour to complete this repair. I hope this helps.

LG bottome freezer/refrigerator

The ice maker is plugged on the back wall of the freezer. There are only 3 phillip screws holding it in place. Not a hard task if you have a handy person in the area.
Unplug the unit, remove the screws, and then unplug the unit and remove it.
