I have a Copystar 4035 and the automatic feeder doesn't feed consistently. Is there a way that I can clean the rollers?

  • Anonymous Oct 03, 2010

This does not address the automatic document feeder on top of the machine. How do I get to those rollers and what do I clean them with?

  • Anonymous Oct 03, 2010

The automatic document feed on top of the machine does not continuously pick up the pages and then jams.

Hello,

Here are two ways solution to solve the problem

Cleaning a laser printer can solve minor problems, maintain print quality, and prolong periods between professional cleanings. Clean your printer when print quality deteriorates or when you change toner cartridges.

  • Collect the supplies you need: a soft cloth and cleaning fluid made for plastic. (Water is fine in most cases.)
  • 2 Check the printer manual. If the manufacturer has provided specific instructions, follow them.
  • 3 Turn off the printer.
  • 4 Dampen a cloth with water or cleaning fluid.
  • 5 Wipe the outside of the printer, making sure that no fluid gets inside.

  • You need to know how to clean rollers to keep your printer in good working order. Proper cleaning of the copystar and the rollers will help the printer function correctly every time you use it. If the printer is not picking up the paper or the paper gets stuck in the rollers, it is time for a cleaning. Cleaning the rollers is simple when you follow these easy-to-understand steps

    INSTRUCTION 2 BELOW
  • Remove the power cord from the electrical outlet. Open the printer cover and expose the printer rollers.
  • 2 Remove the paper from the "in" tray and any paper you may have in the "out" tray.
  • 3 I have a Copystar 4035 - clean-hp-printer-rollers-1.3-120x120.jpg Hold the wet cloth against the first roller with one hand and use the other hand to manually turn the roller.
  • 4 Replace the paper in the in tray. Plug the printer in and print a test page. The rollers should take the paper from the in tray. If not, repeat the process in Step 3 to make sure you remove all of the dirt
  • please rate this solution after use

thank you and thanks for using fixya.

      hello,

what is the problem like ?

      thnak

    • Oloyede Monsuru Oct 03, 2010

      hello,

      Laser
printers provide excellent print quality, but only if they are properly
maintained. Laser printers must be cleaned and maintained on a regular
basis or the quality of the printouts will suffer. Over time, paper
dust and toner residue build up, and if the printer is not cleaned
properly, this residue will get on the paper and create problems with
print quality. Learning how to clean your HP Laser Jet 1000 printer
properly is the best way to keep it running smoothly.

        Turn
off the HP Laser Jet 1000 printer and allow it to sit for at least half
an hour. The interior of the laser printer can get very hot.

        2

        Lift
the toner cover door and remove the toner cartridge. Use a small vacuum
cleaner to clean under where the toner cartridge was sitting. Paper
dust and loose toner tend to accumulate under the toner cartridge. Use
a small vacuum cleaner like the kind used to service computer.

        3

        Clean
the entire interior of the printer using the same vacuum cleaner.
Continue cleaning the printer until no more toner residue or paper dust
        is found.

        4

        Use
a soft cloth to clean the interior of the printer one more time. The
cloth will often pick up additional toner residue and paper dust that
        the vacuum cleaner misses.

        5

        Purchase
a pack of laser printer cleaning sheets at your local office supply
store. These specially designed sheets are slightly sticky, and as they
move through the paper path they pick up dirt and other residue.

then in support of the first solution

To remove unfused toner from the rollers following a paper jam, print 5 to 10 blank pages on scrap paper.

Wipe toner from clothing if necessary, then immediately wash toner-soiled clothes in cold water.

Go to your printer manufacturer's Web site (see Related Sites) for detailed cleaning instructions

Don't use any liquid cleaners inside the printer

      thank you for using fixya.

When making photocopies, the automatic top paper feeder is grabbing more than one page at a time. How do we fix it?

Clean all the rollers in the ADF with a damp lint free cloth. Depending on wear, they may need to be changed, but try cleaning first. Where the paper stack rests there will be either a pad or roller, make sure it is clean too.

Multiple pages feed when printing on hp 7410

    • If the automatic document feeder (ADF) does not pick up any pages at all, the rollers inside the automatic document feeder need to be cleaned.
    • If the automatic document feeder picks up multiple pages instead of single sheets, the separator pad inside the automatic document feeder needs to be cleaned.
SolutionLoad one or two sheets of unused plain white full-size paper into the document feeder tray, and then press Start Copy Black to pull the pages through the automatic document feeder. The plain paper releases and absorbs residue from the rollers and separator pad.note.pngNOTE:If the automatic document feeder does not pick up the plain paper, try cleaning the front roller. Wipe the roller with a soft lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. If the problem persists, or the automatic document feeder does not pick up the plain paper, clean the rollers and separator pad manually. Follow the procedures below to remove the face plate from the front of the automatic document feeder, access the pick assembly inside the automatic document feeder, clean the rollers or separator pad, and then reattach the face plate.

The belt inside my scanjet 4200c has come off. How do I reattach it? I have opened the scanner. It looks to be relatively easy but I don't know how to attach the belt to the motor etc

    Instructions

1 Lift the hatch on the feed tray and pull up the large green tab to the left of the roller. Remove any jammed or torn paper from under the roller and around the feed tray.
2 Pull the input feed tray out of the automatic document feeder. Grasp the feed tray with both hands and pull it straight out.
3 Check the interior of the automatic document feeder for jammed paper. Remove any jammed paper, then reinsert the feed tray into the automatic document feeder. Push down the feeder cover until you hear a click.

We have two canon image class D880 printers in our office. The ADF feeder will not pick up the paper and feed it through the scanner section. We have about 6,000 and 9,000 copies on these. I have cleaned...

Never clean feed rollers with alcohol. Lift the automatic doc. feed cover up. You will see 2 grey rollers. Clean them with 409,fantastic or water. The rollers are available. A pain to put in. Steven

The auto document feeder does not pick up the paper

The pickup roller is probably dirty. Take a clean sheet of paper and put a small amount of rubbing alcohol at the end. Take that same end and place it in the automatic feeder and attempt to feed through for a few times. This should clean the pickup roller and allow paper to be picked up. Wait a few minutes for the alcohol to dry and attemt to feed a clean sheet of paper. You might need to repeat the process a few times

    Hi,

Clean the ADF rollers and pad with alcohol.

Check to see if your ADF has done over 90 000 copies and if it has, change the ADF pick up assembly only.

    HP Office Jet 7310

chances are the feeder isnt feeding the paper at all, thats why you cant scan a single paper, try opening up the ADF and clean the feed rollers first, turn off the machine and gently rub the rollers again and again until you have a clean shot or surface, try this from thop to bottom rollers, please make sure though to insert uncreased paper and paper without eardogs on its leading edge, this could cause some delay upon feeding process

sometimes because it is exposed to dust, there is a tendency for the rolllers to slip, or you could be having a broken part that drives the feed rollers from your ADF.

    Top Paper Feed Won't Work

Like a worn running shoes, the paper feed roller of the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) have lost it's traction and has to be replaced or cleaned. Paper just slids and doesn't picked up properly without that little push. Professional servicers use a cleaner specifically designed for rubber rollers. However, YOU CAN get extra miles on it by dabbing a Q-tip in warm water and cleaning the paper feed roller on the ADF. Like all eletrical devices, the unit has to be turned off and unplugged before working on it. Take all precationary measures and goodluck.
