FIREFLY MODEL USBFF20 Has for 10 or 20 years (?) and stil works in my old Dell. I recently bought a new Dell XPS 8700 w/Intel Core 17. Now, the light comes on, it makes mechanical noises like something...

I would suggest that you go out and buy a current generation external drive, connect the firefly and new drive to your old dell, pull the data off and crush the firefly. Why would you trust any harddrive over 5 years of age with important data. Plus if I am reading the model correctly this is a 20Gb harddisk which is not practical for current backups or storage due to increased sizes.

Cannot delete "System Volume Information" on extra drive

There is a free software title called ccleaner (a registry cleaner) that also gives you the option to delete system restore points. I would give that a shot.

Need to help to clean my recovery H disk is coming almost full.

A hard drive is usually partitoned, one hard drive will show up as two. The recovery drive should not be messed with. Don't add files , nor delete files from that drive.

My 16gb samsung thumb drive will not format in winxp. i have tried all of the online fixes but none seem to work. the drive is currently in the raw mode.

Windows was unable to complete the format. I think the drive is toast ie: I used an older version of fdisk and format and it came back and said track 0 bad disk unusable.

Having problems getting my firefly hard drive to show in my computer.Device manager show the device but I can not get it to my files please help

1. is the firefly working on other computers?
2. are you trying to use it in corporate computer? plugging usb devices may be restricted by a network administrator to protect corporate data.
3. is your usb adapter working. have you tried to plug another usb device to the same usb port?
4. how old is your system.? your system may be using usb 1.1 and your firefly may be using 2.0.. if that's the case you may have problems using your device in the that computer.
5. check your bios to make sure usb support is enabled in *********** board.
6, are you able to see your removable storage device (firefly) in My computer? if you do. what message do you get when double clicking in the icon to go into your device.

When i plug in my lexar jumpdrive the computer doesn't recognize it being plugged in? how can i retrieve the data on there?

Have you tried it on other pc's? It may be a bad usb port on your pc, Or, it may have gone bad.Try it on several different pc's and try other jumpdrives on your pc. If all is ok, the jumpdrive is bad, all data is lost. This happens sometimes when you unplug a jumpdrive with out turning it off in windows first.

I have a lexar 1 GB jumpdrive secure 2 plus and was using it to save pictures. In the middle of trying to save a picture a notice came up saying i couldn't save it because the directory was full. how do i...

In that case I have two suggestions. *note I am assuming you are using a computer with Microsoft Windows.*

One: Defragment the jump drive. With the jump drive plugged in click on the 'start button' and choose 'My computer'. Then right click the jumpdrive and select 'properties' which will open a window. Click on the tools tab and select defragment.

Two: Format the drive. First, if the drive will allow, copy the data fron the jumpdrive to your computer. Then click on the 'start button' and choose 'My computer'. Then right click the jumpdrive and select format. Let me know if you have already tried this or if you need more clarification.

Hope that works for you.

What program should I choose to download the information from my Lexar 2GB jumpdrive?

Just open My Computer, and you should see the drive on your list of devices. Double click on it, and you can copy/paste the files from the jumpdrive to the main drive.

If the drive came from a camera, the "Camera and Scanning Wizard" might start, making it a bit easier for you to move the files.

Hope that helps
