Question about Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional for PC
I have compaq presario V3777TU..its a vista machine..while i was trying to install xp in it ,it gave me an error that no hard disk found...plzz help
Easiest fix: go into BIOS (press F2 when you first turn it on) change the SATA mode to IDE, Press F10 to save and exit
install windows as per normal.

This is because you cannot downgrade from vista to xp on the machine in which vista has been preloaded

YOU CAN INSTALL XP OVER A VISTA PRE-LOADED MACHINE BUT YOU NEED TO INSERT THE XP INSTALL DISK IN FIRST THEN REBOOT WITH THE CD IN THE TRAY.YOU SHOULD GET THE"PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD"MESSAGE.IF YOU KEEP GETTING YOUR PREVIOS PROBLEM WITH THE HARDDRIVE MESSAGE,YOU CAN GO TO THE BIOS SETTINGS AND CHANGE THE BOOT SEQUENCE TO CD FIRST AND THEN TRY THE INSTALL AGAIN.
