Have you tried taking apart and cleaning the carb? Sometimes (you may know) rotten fuel lines will break up and allow small pieces to enter the fuel system. Check that ole fine filter mesh screen in the fuel pump side of the carburetor. That's the side with the idle-speed screw on it. Post back, I would like to help and find out the problem.

Had the same issue and it really seemed like the carb. Turned out to be a defective spark plag that would run until warm (10-20 seconds) and then stall out like out of fuel. Go with the Bosch plug.

I am sorry to say this, but the compression for that type of engine should be atleast 120 psi. Remove the muffler and look at the cylinder, it is scarred beyond repair.

SOURCE: primer pump rotten need replacement show parts page

The hoses run through a hole into the gas tank, they are fitted with a filter inside the tank. Drain the tank, and manipulate the hose end to where you can grab it throught he filler hole, Remove the filter, run new gas lines into the tank and through the filler hole to replace the filter, reattach to the carburator. The primer bulb should have 4 small screws attaching it to the carburator. Remove the screws, place in new primer bulb, and you should be back to trimming asap.

SOURCE: runs on starting fluid, not

Try spraying a little gas where you spray starter fluid. If it runs you may have to install diaphram kit. If it has a choke can get around primer not working.

Look inside the tank. Some units have a stone inside that blocks the fuel line when it is tipped a certain way. Might be what's happening here.

Ryobi 410 mini tiller w/Walbro WT149A primer bulb won't prime. New bulb, new fuel lines, hooked up right, carb cleaned. Been sitting for several years.Runs when fuel is pumped into the fuel inlet.

hello sir, my machine will only start when pumping primmer bulb or squirting fluid in the carburetor than stops. the fuel line has broken off, in most small carburetors this is a ongoing problem.old fuel will crystallize when left in tank for a long time.plugging up ports, fuel lines, small screen in carburetor.fuel lines will dissolve clogging carb.this is why it will run when the choke is on creating a vacuum to where there is fuel forced in the carb to rum, also the gas will evaporate leaving the oil behind clogging up carb.the thing to do is remove carb. and clean out, replacing gaskets or fuel line if necessary.use carb cleaner to clean out carb.make sure to make note where fuel line go.the fuel filter broke off of fuel line letting debris get in carb plugging it up.the muffler is known to clog up a lot on these machines where they want run. the compression should be 60 to 120 lbs any thing below 60 is junk. when adjusting the carb screws turn in all the way than turnout 1 1/4 turns turn in slow until machine runs also you need to check for spark by removing plug and grounding against engine to check spark, ok.a new spark plug would be a good ideal too , if you are going to make these repairs use new fuel line and filter, hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you, !!

Craftman blower/ changed the fuel lines/ cleaned the filters/ still no fuel in to the primer

Clean your carb and make sure your needle and seat are also clean and the screen inside carb at inlet of fuel, also the primer has a check valve inside it that gums up, try to spray carb clean or sea foams deep creep I like it seems to loosen up the check valve and remember normally fuel line with filter goes on nipple at pump side of carb and other nipple goes to suction side of primer and other nipple goes to tank as a return line as you prime it, this causes fuel to be sucked thru carb and back to tank 2StrokeJim

Replacing fuel tank on craftsman edger and other fuel not understand where to hook fuel lines back up?  any diagrams?

ok If you have a Walbro WT series carb "without" a built on primer bulb here it is. First off if the fuel lines disintegrated you MUST disassemble it and clean it out. The MOST infintesimle speck of gas line trapped, can allow good prime and bad operation. OK? Don't be lazy on this. Just be delicate removing the flaps gasket and diaphram. ZAMA GND-12 Is the replacement Gasket and diaphram kit fot that carb. Use a cleaner, compressed air or blow good thru it. OK Now...Primer bulb, Carb, and Fuel tank, re connects: Smaller Diameter line comes from Gas tank (Connect filter screen to this in tank) to the short Straight brass carb connector. Primer bulb suction goes to the bent carb brass connector. If small line brings fuel "in" this other line sucks it back "Thru the primer bulb" and the blow side of the primer bulb sends it back to the fuel tank! So...Small Line brings fuel "TO/IN" carb thru short brass connect on carb. Other carb connect goes to bulb suction "IN", Then primer bulb "Pressure OUT" goes thru the larger tube "back to fuel tank". Trust me I know how frustrating a simple diagram is to find online fo this set up. And if you have a carb problem on top of the hook up uncertainty you got frustration. Not only was online help hard to find (Mfg...etc NFG at all!) My local repairshop in BBrook NJ could not tell me how!!! and thats no lie! Walbro has a "generic" carb diagram but no "hook up info" specifically. Poulan don't list it either. And these things routinly fall to pcs. all 3 of mine crumpled together on yr. 3 of use.

Sounds like you need to take the carb. apart and clean it. I like to use a Den Tek Brush, (used for cleaning teeth), to clean the small ports in carb. they work great for this job. Make sure to either clean or replace the small screen in thcarb. as well.

Craftsman trimmer won't prime

A new carburetor would be simplest solution. You could try disassembling the carb, cleaning and replacing diaphrams, but just replacing the carb would be my choice. What is the model # on the trimmer and I can tell you the part # of the carb you need.
