ON THE SCREEN IT SAYS ROXIO CD BURNER & 74 FREE MINUTES. THIS LAPTOP IS PROBABLY 10-15 YEARS OLD. IF THE UNIT IS NOT EQUIPPED FOR BURNING, IS THERE A WAY TO GET IT TO BURN CDS. THANKS,TOM.

You need to purchase the windows XP CD to get the Genuine CD Key.
You can reinstall windows 2000 Professional if you have CD Key of it, but it needed the CD also. If your friend having the CD you can use that CD and use the CD key which you have.

I suggest not to install windows 2000 professional because this has been expired as per Microsoft and no support available in future.

Assuming you have no data to lose,,,, you could always try to download copy of Windows 2000 Professional and burn it to a CD. Before you do this,,, you have to make sure you have a sticker somwhere on your laptop with your original product key. If you do decide to download Windows 2000 Professional,,, make sure its an OEM copy,,, and of course there is no guarantee that it will be a full copy, or a copy without virus's in it. DO NOT try to download Windows 2000 Professional if you dont have the original product key, as it is illegal. Also,,, do not try and find a product key online,,, that is also illegal. I have to be perfectly clear that the only legal way to download somethign like Windows 2000 Professional is if u have the original product code or key.
