I have got the problems initially like flash cannot be changed and also zoom disabled but after configuration of setting it will work but the image quality is too bad and also when i half press my capture button the image displayed (preview) in LCD is poor than the previous view and after capturing the image some what in good quality for small distance object but very bad image quality for distance (only some what) object.Plz help me by giving solution.
I have the same problem as you.. I don't know what is wrong with my camera and Ic ant seem to find the restore button to factory settings. There is nothing in the menu that states this.
For some reason my photos are in really poor pixelated quality even if it is set to the maximum of 8MP. When i take a photo with the flash, the photos return pixelated as though its been taken from a poor 'cell phone camera'
grrr its a really crappy camera.. >_< It used to be good until this started happening out of no where.

When “FLASH error” (Self-diagnosis Code E : 91 : ** ) occurs, to prevent any abnormal situation caused by high voltage, setting of the
flash is changed automatically to disabling charge and flash setting.
After fixing, this setting needs to be deactivated. Flash error code can be initialized by the operations on the Setup screen.
Method for Initializing the Flash Error Code
Initializes the setting to the default setting.
1 Select [OK] with v on the control button, then press z.
The message “Initialize all settings Ready?” appears.
2 Select [OK] with v, then press z.
The settings are reset to the default setting.
• Make sure that the power is not disconnected during resetting.

Correction : Retry turn the power on by the power switch. Check the zoom reset sensor of lens block (pin 9 of CN402 on the SY-191 board), if zooming is performed when the zoom button is operated. If it is OK, check the zoom motor drive IC (IC401 on the SY-191 board).

Well, it seems that this is either a manufacturing defect or a defective/sub-standard part being used in the product. It would do Sony well to address this problem immediately so that all of us Sony lovers would continue to believe in their products. If this can be solved via a firmware upgrade then I hope Sony can guide us through it.
