Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

The washer will not start as the start button flashes and says that the washer is paused. No cycle has been started. It does not matter what type of cycle is selected, the start button has Pause for all of them.

No. I checked around the site on how to get the Error Code and I got E41. I don't think I saw any specifics for E41 though.

The wash is a Frigidaire GLTF2940FS1

Is there a place on the website that I could find how to take the lock assembly apart?

Maybe more importantly what a PTC is, how to measure the resistance and what OHMS are.

    Thanks.

  • roma_richard Oct 03, 2010

No to both. It sounds like we'll have to call someone out.

E41 = Control board thinks the door switch is open. This points towards a faulty door switch on the machine.

Remove the door lock assembly and measure the resistance of the PTC. It should be around 1500 ohms

Ohms are the unit to measure resistance...Do you have experience in working over the electrical components and do you have an ohm meter at home o measure the resistance?

PTC thermistor is one whose zero-power resistance increases with an increase in temperature.

Unlocking your washer so it actually works.

If the green cycle light is flashing on then off, this usually means the cycle is paused. The lid lock should unlock when in pause mode, if not you will need to press and hold the "Pause/Play" button to clear the cycle completely, if there is water in the unit, it will drain first, then unlock the lid and be on standby to start a new cycle. Electrolux front loader washer ewd1477 flashing start/pause button. interrupted during wash cycle by power outage. start/pause button now flashes and won't start any cycle.

Try to turn circuit breaker off, or unplug unit, for about 5-6 minutes. This is a hard reset and should reset the internal controls to restart the unit properly.

My washer won't start, it keeps flashing ERR and then the wash-time, and then LOC. My roommate says to fix it before, he held down three buttons, but can't remember which ones. Any idea?

Try the following two buttons: press Options and Select together for 10 seconds (or until the LOC disappears). The pair of buttons held for 10 seconds also sets this control lock.

To find out the error code, turn the Program knob to the start position, Spin Only. Press Start/Pause to start the cycle. Press Cancel to stop the cycle and turn off the LEDs. Press Cancel again and within 5 seconds press and hold the Options and Start/Pause buttons until the LEDs start chasing. Then release the buttons. Turn the Program knob seven clicks clockwise from the Start position. The control will signal the last error code. To clear the error, press and hold Options and Start/Pause for 3 seconds. Then either unplug the washer for 5-8 seconds before plugging it back in. Alternatively, press and hold Options and Start/Pause together for a few seconds until the Wash LEDs appear.

http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/frigidaire-electrolux/12950-frigidaire-atf6000es1-wont-drain.html has a link to the service manual for the listed washer (the link is half-way down the page).

I hope this helps.

How do you get the wash cycle off of ''pause''? I put it on pause to add more clothes, and don't know how to get it started washing again.

Hello and welcome to Fixya.

Starting it again from a "paused" status should just be a matter of pushing and holding for a couple of seconds the start button, provided the door is closed properly.

Hope that answer`s your question. Good luck.

Can't get washer to start again after pushing pause/cancel button

sounds like central control unit problem, you can check for diagnostic mode operation by setting (door closed) drain/spin, no spin, pressing prewash 4 times in 5 secs pressing prewash again will advance through diagnostic cycle. replacing user interface may also be necessary
