Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

1 Answer

I just installed an rlv430 and it works fine, but the backscreen light does not come on. The manual says that it should turn on for 12 seconds when any button is depressed. What could be the problem???. I cannot see the displays at night, since there is not backscreen light.

Hi, the only problem that it could be if the display and system is working good, is a faulty back light from the factory. All you can do is take your receipt and the stat back, and exchange it. It has nothing to do with the way it was wired, its just one of those things that happen from time to time. Even though its new doesn't mean it will work right. I know its a pain, but that is the problem as you have 24 volts there or the unit wouldn't run, and that voltage lights the back light, so its not right.

I called the company and it turns out that there are 3 models of this thermostat which all use the same guide manual, but my model does not have a backlight for the screen.

Dash lights arent working on a 99 explorer, fuses are fine and all the other lights work. quit working after installation of aftermarket stereo

OK, that radio use a straight or constant 12 volts a ignition 12 volts and grounds. now your radio ground might be connected to the park light wires of the car. that wire will should grounds ( - ) but when you turn on the park light it turns to 12 volts to illuminate the dashboard gear shift etc. if that is the case you're wondering where you will get grounds to collect the radio, well the antenna wire has ground, so plug and play, and the frame where the radio goes has metal, which is also grounds. disconnect the black wire from the radio and that wire you can test by turning the park lights on and you will get 12 volts

What is this obsession with the BIOS? The BIOS and system registry is like taking a stroll in a minefield, one wrong step and............ If your computer is working properly leave it alone. But hey, that's just me.

I've installed a 60-minute Woods timer 12842 (digital) in my garage but it switches itself off prematurely over and over. I notice when it is on the little green 10min timer light clicks & dims ever so...

Open following link to identify timer for sure, download on-line manual, and read wiring instructions.
ttp://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59000

1) Manual says 1000Watt Tungsten (incandescent) and 1000Watt Ballast (fluorescent)
2) Timer is powered by electric circuit and not internal battery, so cold garage temps will not affect operation
3) Check wiring against instructions shown on link above, except your other timers work fine, which indicates correct wiring.
4) Buy cheap circuit analyzer at home center, and test receptacle on same garage circuit
5) Try moving known-good timer to same location and see if problem persists.
6) I test timers, and some in-wall and plug-in timers arrive defective, and some go bad quickly, most have 1 year limited warranty, some last 5-7 years.

Yes it is acceptable and common practice. You do not need a neutral on a 220 Volt circuit. Just wrap it with black electrical tape so anyone who gets into the wiring later will know that both are hot. This is accepted by the National Electrical Code.

My manual shows three possibilities:  1) Insufficient fresh air available for combustion, so ODS kicks off gas flow 2) Low gas line pressure (should be between 11 and 14") or 3) ODS/Pilot is partially clogged.  Toll free number for ProCom is 877-886-5989.

get in front of one of the thermostats and call Honeywell at 800-341-0110. If you are prompted, tell them you are an installer and seting up the thermostat for the homeowner.

Good Luck.
