what type of computer, and what operating system, and are you familiar with going into BIOS to see what is recognized by your computer?
write back with more details, it could be something as simple as a cord not attached correctly....

First just ask a question, is your dvdv drive share a data cable into your harddrive/hardisk, if true follow this instruction,
checked your data cable, power cable from your DVD drive, or try to determine if your dvd drive's jumper selection set to slave, after checked your hardrive jumper if it is set to slave change to master, hope you know how to change the jumper setup..

hope it will help.. tnx, if theres a question pm me..

My dell insptron 1545 wil not recognise my DVD drive how can I repair this ? I am unable to burn dvd's as even when i insert a brand new dvd I am told that I do not have a writable cd in the drive...

Hi There

DVD drive sometime it is not working simply because maybe the disc you insert is not compatible for the DVD drive you have or the disc you put is really cannot be rad by your DVD drive, best thing to is check and try few discs and observe your dvd drive, sometimes the lens is faulty or sometimes the module of the lens is not moving forward and backward. this is the most case i encountered. you can replace your dvd drive by replacing it by the new one. it is not very costly.

It is better to replace than to repair it, repair might be last only for a weeks while new is sure to work more than that.

thanks

I put a dvd on the disc tray, but it must not have clicked down because now the tray is open and the dvd is still in the computer

The only thing to do there if you have tried everything to get it out..is to remove the disc drive and take it apart...
but this is a strange 1...i,ve never worked on a computer where,s it,s swallowed up the disc...only if the disc drive is stuck in the closed position.....

Or remove the disc drive, give it a gentle taop on the top...then near the bottom of the opening you should see a small hole to put a pin in it ,to manually open the drive...try that a couple of time rarther than opening the drive up...

Hope this help...if it does then please rate it and if i can be anymore help..

Regards

Dvd drive not reading a disc

If this happens with every disc, then your drive needs fixing/cleaning or replacement. If it only happens with a specific disc such as your game, then something's wrong with the disc. If it's a homemade DVD you may be dealing with copy protection. Try cleaning the disc and the player. Try the disc in another computer.

Cd/dvd drive on computer

That means defective lens.

Try first using a dvd lens cleaner. If that does not work, the DVD must be taken apart to access the lens pickup directly and cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol and cotton.

Samsung x15 cd/dvd prob

Click start, run, type regedit

Navigate to this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Delete the "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" entries.

If you have more than one key with that number, use the first one.
