what type of computer, and what operating system, and are you familiar with going into BIOS to see what is recognized by your computer?
write back with more details, it could be something as simple as a cord not attached correctly....

First just ask a question, is your dvdv drive share a data cable into your harddrive/hardisk, if true follow this instruction,
checked your data cable, power cable from your DVD drive, or try to determine if your dvd drive's jumper selection set to slave, after checked your hardrive jumper if it is set to slave change to master, hope you know how to change the jumper setup..

hope it will help.. tnx, if theres a question pm me..

How to do clean install of Windows 8.1 when normal clean install does not work. Putting disk in and doing usual F8 command does not work. The computer is in a loop I can't get out of.

Make sure you are putting the disc in a DVDRom and check the bios to make sure the system is set to boot from the DVD. You can also hit the F10 key during start up which on most computers brings up a boot menu. Make sure you select the drive that has the Windows DVD disc.

I cant reboot my dell inspiron530s to the factory settings? i ve try every thing,Ctrl+F11 and it wont work

Many manufacturer's (especially Dell) have a habit of creating a hidden partition on your local drive which holds everything you need to put your computer back to day zero. Access to this is acheived either through a combination of key presses (this will show up when booting the computer as a message stating "press xx to repair your computer") or through the original cd/dvd rom that came with your new system.
You can obtain the original discs through dell from their website. You can obtain information and help through the dell forums.

Having a problem with windows media player. I put in a cd and try to get it to rip and it comes back and tells me to put in a disc. I put a disc in to play and it tells me to put in a disc. It is like it...

Does it only happen in Windows media player? If it does try gettting the updated version of media player. if it happens in other applications try changing the dics. If that doesnt work, you need to delete the lower and upper filters in the registry *Note* if you are not really comfortable in doing that then dont, Wrong move in the registry can mess up the operating system, here is the link how to delete the lower and upper filters

if these doesnt work uninstall then reinstall the driver for the optical drive..

try also getting an update from your computer manufacturer. update for the optical drive, or BIOS

lastly, try reinstalling the operating system, if these doesnt work change the optical drive because its a hardware issue..

CD-ROM drive doesn't acknowledge DVD-ROM, what's wrong?

CD-ROMs dont play dvd becuase they are not designed to read dvd.

If a dvd drive for your model is not available, you can buy an external usb dvd drive.
That should solve your problem

Dvd drive not reading a disc

If this happens with every disc, then your drive needs fixing/cleaning or replacement. If it only happens with a specific disc such as your game, then something's wrong with the disc. If it's a homemade DVD you may be dealing with copy protection. Try cleaning the disc and the player. Try the disc in another computer.

Cd/dvd drive on computer

That means defective lens.

Try first using a dvd lens cleaner. If that does not work, the DVD must be taken apart to access the lens pickup directly and cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol and cotton.

Maybe your cd cannot be read anymore by your CD drive.
be sure that the cd is cleaned and no crack traces on it.
Please try another a very new CD/DVD to see if the CD drive can read.

if read then, your cd is damage. but there is some CD drive that cannot read some cd disc. You should select maybe the cd rom compatibility.
