Your hard drive is failing or your getting whats called RROD, very common on the xbox. Try to start your xbox with out your hard drive. If it start then your hard drive need to be changed.

Xbox 360 Elite keeps freezing up

random freezes during game can be result of playing black ops fallout series oblivion or poor placement for fan of the 360 (when in doubt unplug and replug cords in 360 do not move 360 or unplug while its on)

Xbox 360 Elite has a bigger hard drive and a HDMI port. [Some non-Elites already have a HDMI port]<-- if you dont.. you CANT add a HDMI port..

geting a 120GB .hard drive will be the only upgrade that can be done

Hard drive not read

Thats because the elite will only recognize a 60gb or higher. Pretty much you are keeping your xbox from operating at it's full potential.

Xbox 360 elite 1 red light

When you get any of these messages appearing on your screen with one red light flashing on the ROL of your Xbox 360 console that's an indicator of a hardware problem with the console connection to one of the parts connected to it as the hard drive or cables.
So, first disconnect all power and AV cables from the back of your Xbox 360 console and also unplug the power cord from the wall socket, wait for a minute then reconnect them all back and try to turn on your Xbox 360 console once more.
If that doesn't work, it seems then to be a fault with your Xbox 360 hard drive so turn off the console again and remove the hard drive then turn on your Xbox 360 console without the hard drive, supposed then to work fine, it might be an intermittent issue and when you reconnect the hard drive your Xbox 360 will work fine all after, or it will just work fine without the hard drive so it will be then definitely a fault with your Xbox 360 hard drive so call Xbox 360 customer support to exchange the hard drive for you.
The number for Microsoft is usually listed on the back of any game manual.

I hope I was able to fixya problem, and Happy Gaming!

Xbox 360 elite freezing

I'm having the same issue with my elite... almost looks as if it glitches ( vid card possibly ) sometimes it will make it to loading screen of any game others it wont even make it past the xbox logo.. If I'm lucky I can get to the dash board, but most of the time it just freezes.

I'm so glad I spent the money on an elite cause my premium I sent back to MS 3x still red rings.

Any suggestions...? All lights turn green like normal no red ring o death yet .... yet, and I'm so close to tossing this thing off the deck and calling it a day.

Thanks for any help you can give

My xbox 360 frezzes when i play games. HELP PLEASE!!

I recommend setting your XBOX down on a level and hard surface (don't put it upright on a stand). I have seen many disks with radially arching scratches (the worst possible type of scratch for a CD/DVD) that seem to be caused by some of the optical drives (DVD drive) of the at least three different ones that the XBOX 360's come with), and I believe that keeping the drive tray horizontal, level, and being very careful with the Disks may prevent the scratches that may be causing your freezing.
I have also seen freezing in XBOX 360 games for no apparent reason at all, I thought it may be overheating at one point and made sure the console had plenty of space around it to breath and that seemed to help. Since you've had yours for a year and a half (mines only been out of the box for 3 months, so the main board is pretty clean yet), it may need internal cleaning (can be done with static free canned compressed air, or better yet by an electronics bench Tech.). If in a smoking environment, the tar and dust combining is more than likely the culprit.
Let us know if you've already tried the above, and Good luck.

Xbox 360 keeps freezing

Clearing your Xbox 360 Hard Drive cache
I've had this problem myself whilst playing Oblivion, although it was not only freezing in some places but also being very unresponsive and really slowing down when trying to talk to NPCs. Anyway, clearing the cache on your Xbox 360 is very safe and does not affect any of your game saves, profiles, demos, videos, etc (although it does delete some downloaded game auto-updates, which will be easy to download again afterwards). It is mainly temporary data that is stored in order to make certain areas of games load faster. These can sometimes corrupt, making your Xbox struggle when trying to read them and eventually just freezing up.

To clear your Xbox 360 cache you need to do the following:
"a. Locate the System section of the Xbox 360 Dashboard. b. Select Memory, select Hard Drive, and then press Y to view the device options screen.c. On the Xbox 360 Controller, press the X button, press the X button again, press the left bumper, press the right bumper, press the X button, and then press the X button again.d. You will be prompted to confirm system maintenance, select Yes by pressing A."Source: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907586/en-us
