Yes, that correct, each chip has 18 pins that need to be unsolder, take out old chip, put new chi and solder its pins with soldering gun etc.
Complete deflection board is also available but problem-fix cost will be increase.

Well you are better judge to evaluate your expertise/ skills.
If you feel comfortable in soldering work then can attempt to replace chips by yourself OR local tv repairman is always a good option to do that.

Welcomjee, hoping that you can still help. I ordered and replaced the two STK392-040 semiconductors. Fairly easy swap. They repair helped the convergence a bit but It still looks like it is "out-of-alignment". Is there some type of alignment that needs to occur now that the semiconductors have been replaced? Or, is the potential some other part that may be bad?

Samsung hcm5525w rear projection tv

Extensive analysis revealed this unit to be for 120V 60Hz regions. If you use it in a region where the mains supply is 220/240V 50Hz then it won't work. In addition, the PSU will overheat, with possible damage to other modules.
One possible solution is a 120V 60Hz inverter, else Samsung may be able to provide the correct PSU for 220/240V.

The Samsung has bad convergence IC's most likly. This should be repair ONLY by a trained technician as a TV set is not a place to experiment or tinker with because of the extremly high voltage inside. This repair should cost you in the range of 250 to 400 bucks . Good Luck
