Question about Eagle Industries FishElite 640C GPS Receiver

3 Answers

Hello, I bought a 640c from a friend of mine but he lost the SD card. I'm trying to order the map for Japan from Navionics but it won't let me download to a regular 2 Gig SD card. Do I have to have a specific card to do this. Help

    Thanks,

I have a regular size Panasonic 4GB SD card but when I go to the Navionics web store it will not let me get past the section that states that it is locating the Navionics card. It does not find the card that is in the slot. The computer sees it Ok. I'm stuck

    Hello,

I reformatted and had the same results. Try it yourself with a regular SD card. However at another site "Fugawi" I can order the card already loaded. It indicates that its a CF card. Also on the capatability chart it shows that it may use a micro SD card. Stuck.

I tried using a 4GB SD card with no results. Navionics site will not let me get past that as it's looking for the Navionics card. Another chart site "Fugawi" indicates that I can order the card CF type from them already loaded but the area coverage cost a bit more than I need.

You will need a 4GB SD card or better to download the map from Japan on your 640c. Click on the link below to order:

Hi, no you should not need any specific SD card but some devices are a bit picky about how they are formatted. I would advise putting the SD card into your computer and formatting it to FAT32, not NTFS or any other filing system. Try downloading the map to your computer first and then transferring it to your SD card afterwards if that is possible.

Hope this helps

The problem is you lost your original card Ya???

Before i give you the answer i want to let you know that your machine has 2 Expansion Slot Type SD (Secure Digital) Card Slot, MultiMediaCard (MMC) slot

that means that you can only use an sd card or an mmc card which will work perfectly.
Now it may be possible that you are using a micro sd card or mini sd card instead of an sd card which is not compatible with your device.i can say that because we use micro sd in mobiles . camcorders, cameras etc. so may be you had taken that.Check your card and tell me this.
One thing more if you are using a correct card you may lack memory due to which this error had occured.

Finally answering the lagt line of your question , just get an SD card or an MMC card from the market for your device and this will be fully compatible.

Thanks.
Please accept the solution if helped.

Regards

MapCreate Topo does not have lake maps. There are 'some' maps on Lowrance's web site (Free Enhanced Lake Maps) but you may need to purchase lake maps on SD cards for the area you're interested in.

Need map updates for GPS

Dependant on the type of unit you have, you can order MMC or SD cards from several companies. I have used Navionics with much success. They have a buy-back program where you can get a discount towards the latest cards when you turn in your old ones. Also, if you have a memory card device, you can access tons of lakes directly from the Lowrance website. Then save to acard and load into you boats unit.

Global map 5200c loading problems- navionics platinum hot maps

I had the same problem with my handheld Lowrance Hunt C. After installing the card and locking it in place, I had to slide the card "out" toward the locking mechanism. It barely moves, but worked after that. Whenever I load the card, I now slide it out and it works every time.

Navionics gold card & humminbird 78c2

Hi!
You NEED to have a gps lock in order for the card to show it's true potential.
Also check in the menu for a setting that says "Map detail" and change it to all available. It could be the setting is on a lesser choice (like the internal mapping and not the new sd card)
Hope this helps!

Navionics gold sd card

Make sure that you go into MAP data and select this chart as the map info. You might just be using the internal base map right now.

Raytech Navigator software reads navionics cards and even comes with a card reader for an sd card. It also works on windows xp. Navionics also sells PC software to view their cards.

Here's a Raytech link:
