Kenmore 116 Progressive Canister Won't Run

My wife recently ran both my Shop Vac and her Kenmore 116.25813508 (Ser# M61801944) on a 220V line. The SV's impeller self destructed but will be fine once I replace it. The Kenmore's impeller is okay and it ran fine when I powered the motor directly but doesn't run via the hose switch when all is attached. Can you offer any guess as to what might have fried from the high voltage? Do you know where I could get a wiring diagram to assist tracing the problem down?

Absolutely correct. The fuse saved the day. Sears is closed for maintenance so I can't check on their price right now. The fuse is a 20A @ 125V. I've not found that yet, but did locate a 10A @ 250V. Would that suffice?

In the canister there is a fuse wire, also a circuit board that could be bad, I would check the fuse wire first. If the motor has a thermo protector on it, it may be open. The switch asm. in the hose handle could have gone bad.

You can to and click on the parts link, enter your model number, then scroll down, you can chose which page you want to look at. It will bring up a parts page, scroll down and you get a picture breakdown. You can also order parts thru the site.

No, 10 amp is too low and would blow, stick to the 20 amp, don't sub.

There are four screws, two at the front and two at the back under the step bar that rewinds the cord.  It lifts off from the bottom.  Be careful not to snap off the tabs.

Kenmore progressive canister Sweeper

I figured it out pushing the lever down and pry a screw driver into three different spots on the top, to release the rewind bar. Looks like three little j hooks hold it down. It took a flashlight and night time for me to see it.

Kenmore vacuum manuals

I tried what reddevil6 suggested and was not able to get Sears to produce a manual. I would prefer an online manual but at this point I'm desperate enough to try anything.
