Hello there : if you have tried to adjust the volume on the unit and still have no volume then your volume controle know b may be faulty or the speaker inside of the unit may be bad in this case you would have to remove the 4 or 6 screws that hold the 2 halves together and seperate the 2 halves nd inspect the internal wiring to see if there is a wire that has came off of the speaker if so it will need to be soldered back into pla ok? Hope this is very helpful for you Best regards MIchael
This is caused by the RD's local oscillator becoming unstable at higher temperatures due to a component which has become defective. Since this is an older radar detector model, you will have to pay a service charge to have it fixed. On the other hand, perhaps it is time to upgrade your remote installation to either the Escort 9500ci or the Bel STi-R setups? These newer models from Bel/Escort provide much better performance.
I'm pretty sure that this is caused by a failed internal capacitor, and that this probably was caused by a sudden voltage spike while starting your car. You will have to send your RX65 to Bel/Escort for repair. While they are at it, they will also upgrade your RX65's firmware to whatever their latest firmware version is, even though the firmware version displayed on your RX65 won't be different when you get it back. Also, I always power my RDs on after I have started my car. This avoids the possibility of sudden voltage spikes damaging my RDs.
There is no place where you can send it in for any type of service. Not only that, your Solo's performance is horribly outdated compared to any current Bel or Escort radar detector model. Even Whistler offers high end models which significantly outperform your old Solo. It is time to upgrade, plain and simple.
On mine you can barely hear it on the 9 setting. I put in a different speaker but no difference. I did look up the number on the IC chip near where the speaker connects (34119) and it came back to a 500 mW audio amplifier, so you could probably replace that and fix it. I think it's what you call a flat-pack style chip. Not as bad as surface mount but will still require a tiny soldering iron. I think the actual part number ended up being MC34119D and should cost a dollar or less.
they are two on back thke the bottem then the top will come off the problem is there are two hinges in the front part on each side u have to compress each side with a very tiny flat head screwdriver. note be very careful this unit is not make to take apart easy but it can be done i have the same problem i am going to radio shack to see if the have the part for the voltage but first i am going to re sader the contection first. hope this works mark
