Seems that the repaired screen has not been new either, it is up to you if you are satisfied with it or not, if the laptop is repaired it should be done perfectly and check if they stated on the repair if a new or used screen is replaced

Compaq laptop green pink screen pixalted

One of the things is to hook it to another monitor and see if that still happens. If it does not then it is most likely the screen on the laptop. Not to worry though it could be the cable that connects the laptop motherboard to the screen. When you open and close the lid, it flexes the cable and the little wires in can break. The cable is not cheap though. One way to test this is to change how far the lid opens by flexing it open and closed to see if the screen changes. If it does then it is that cable.

Laptop white screen

Having a laptop screen turn white is one of the most frustrating problems a user can experience since it prevents use of the laptop to find a solution.
A white laptop screen indicates a serious problem with the laptop's hardware, and no easy solution to this issue exists.
Just diagnosing this condition requires advanced computer knowledge.
Identification

With this problem, the laptop itself will power on and load the operating system as per usual, but the screen will become a complete, static white, according to LaptopRepair101.
No particular brand or make of laptop falls prey to this issue more than any other; it can happen to any laptop.

Causes
Since so many different brands and models of laptops exist, specific causes of a white screen vary from laptop to laptop.
The likely cause in most cases of a white screen on a laptop is a connection problem between the LCD screen and the video cable running from the motherboard.
The issue can also reside strictly with the motherboard or the screen might contain a defect.

Considerations Users can diagnose a white screen problem by opening up the laptop display case to determine whether a loose video connection on the back of the LCD screen exists.
Reconnecting the video cable should resolve the white screen; a video cable reconnection that does not fix the white screen narrows the root cause to a problem with the motherboard or the screen.

Motherboard Problems
The only way to determine if the laptop screen turns white due to a motherboard problem is to test out a different, working LCD screen with the laptop.
This requires the user connect the inverter board--the power supply for the LCD backlight and the video cable to the test LCD.
If the test LCD works with the motherboard, then the laptop's screen needs replacing; otherwise, a new motherboard is needed because there is no way to replace an integrated graphics card on a laptop motherboard.

Prevention/Solution
Taking apart a laptop screen may make some users feel uncomfortable, so you can use an external monitor connected to the VGA port common to most laptops if the processor and hard drive still work fine. Using an external monitor requires finding the proper function key command to toggle between the LCD and external monitor.
Warning
Taking apart the LCD screen on a monitor likely voids any manufacturer's warranty.
Consider visually checking the video connection to the laptop screen as a last resort if no other viable options exists.
The service manual that came with your laptop likely offers some tips to disassembling the computer, or conditions that could void the warranty.

What do you do when your lap top screen goes black? How do I fix it? I turn it on and it just has a black screen.

Hi Plug an external screen into the latop. You usually have to press and hold the Fn key ( bottom left keyboard ) and then one of the Function keys, F7 or F8, look at the symbols, to give the external screen a signal. If this works then your laptop screen itself is faulty. Most makes can be replaced for £120-00, contact me if you want this done regards Bruce

I placed the motherboard into a new case. I think the new case had a defective power switch. it would not start. I put back in the original case and the computer attempts to start and stops and keeps...

> attempts to start and keeps repeating

Please be more specific.

Do you get the initial "splash" screen, and then some white-text-over-black-background,
giving RAM size, processor ID, and such?

Do you see the "press DEL to enter BIOS SETUP" message?

What else do you see?

Is a disk-drive attached to the motherboard?
Does the motherboard try to boot from that disk-drive?

The screen polarization has gone bad. it is not worth the trouble. if it is laptop take it to a tchnician to be replaced. They are usually extremlely pricy and cost almost as much as replacing the laptop and will probably be an upgrade as well. if it is a laptop you can always use the external monitor port and use a different monitor.

Black blank screen Lenovo 3000 N100

You say the laptop all of a sudden flashed off.

How old is the laptop? You may have suffered one of two things? First of all, if the hard drive will not boot back up, even after using the recovery discs, then that would explain it powering off. I have seen this happen on old desktop hard drives.

Next, try to get the transformer or adapter tested. It may not be putting out enough amperage to run the laptop.

I suggest you buy an external harddrive with 500 Gigs, Go to tigerdirect.com for good prices. As far as the screen being black. You could have damaged the video card, the video card is integrated on the motherboard so it would be costly to replace the motherboard. If the wireless card is integrated also on the motherboard, same problem. Just a tip for future refrences, Laptops are used for quick access to info and files on the move, estimated time of use about 40 minutes. If you need to use a computer longer than that I recommend you use a desktop. I have seen many laptops go to waste because of long term use at a time. First thing that goes is usually the memory or video card. I hope this helps you.

It sounds like Either the onboard video card or the LCD controller has gone bad. To verify which one connect a monitor to the VGA adapter on the back of the Laptop. You may also have to hit a key combination to swap displays (Usually <Fn> + <F5> but may be different the keys usually have an offset that indicates its function.

If the Monitor displays the same black and white anomaly then the vid card went bad, if it displays a normal screen your LCD controller is faulty.

Either problem would likely need service from an experienced technician

Hope this helps
